Childhood
60 years ago, when Mr. Lai Hsiao-Yi was still in elementary school, he thought of starting his own business. Although he was about six years old, he was pretty much clever and mature comparing to his friends. He heard of a popular Taiwanese saying that “To be rich, first the doctor, and second the Popsicle vendor.” Therefore he asked his mother to lean him his first seed money, and began his “Ten-cent Popsicle” business. It all started pretty well and he earned enough money for his allowance; however, one day it rained so heavy that few people came to his shop, so he had to swallow the rest of the popsicles by his own then turned out be a terrible stomachache. That was the end of his first try for business running.
