I.Origin
In the 92th year of the Republic Era(2003), Ying-Han Su founded the Hong-Ye Parent-Child Cultural Pavilion. After that, he discussed with his cousins Yu-Zheng Su and Yi-Ru Su. They decided to add the San-He Hotel into one of the spots in Xiao-Xi Street. Therefore, the garage of San-He Hotel became Xiao-Xi story café. And Mr. Su and his wife, Bi-Fen Zhang are the first owner.

II.Surrounding of Xiao-Xi Story Café
San-He Hotel is on the opposite side of those red, old brick wall and the green bushes beside. What a scene! They put a shelving between the old brick wall and Xiao-Xi story café. According to Mr. Su, they hoped that the shelving would serve as a shade. That way, it looks after both sides when it comes to its appreciating and practical values. For now, there is only the empty one, though. Hope that we can enjoy the sight of what Mr. Su had mentioned as soon as possible.
The iron window on the brick wall was replaced by the film photograph shot by Yi-Ru Su. Mr. Su said that it was a short film made by his sister which based on Xiao-Xi Street, that is, their hometown. The film was nominated in the 34th FestivalInternational du Film Independent, bringing the Taiwanese film onto the international stage. Roll the roller, seeing the sight of the main character’s back, people wonder what the story behind the film is.

On the opposite side of the brick wall, there are woodblocks that once piled up the view of the old Xiao-Xi Street. According to Mr. Su, these are rubbings about Xiao-Xi Street he had collected for the tourists. They are allowed to stop by, making rubbings with pencils on their own.

On the other side, there is a white wall that I’m interested in. Mr. Su said that the wall is mainly for the projection. So there is a projector on the opposite side. I turned around only to see a white box with words saying, “Early theater”. He said that the projector is inside it. It would be awesome if we can watch a movie here, sitting on a stool in a cool summer night, I thought. At the same time, Mr. Su added, “We didn’t use the projector after it was used only one time.” I thought that it was really a pity.

We took a look inside the café and found that it had already gone out of business. It turned to be a clothes room. I could see the creative idea from Mr. Su through the recycling strip light made up by pipes and iron cans.

III. Xiao-Xi Story Café’s state of play
Since San-He Hotel closed, Xiao-Xi Story Café

Reflection:
I’m impressed with the effort the Su’s had put into the revival of Xiao-Xi Street. They tell the story in various ways. They introduce Xiao-Xi Street to everyone by taking a sip of coffee, watching films, making woodblock rubbing, taking photos.
