6. Setting out! Moving toLujhou CityTheForbidden CityMuseum!

Students’ feedback:

*We visited Lujhou City The Forbidden City Museum, and we also invited Mr. Wang to give an introduction to the museum. In the beginning, Mr. Wang told us the history of Lujhou. After his introduction, we entered the entrance and what we first saw were two statues of gods. Mr. Wang told us that these two statues of gods are called “Wengzhong,” which were used to worship Qin Shi Huang in the Qin Dynasty. Mr. Wang then showed us the statue of “Maitreya” and told us that we should “learn the aggressive spirit of Maitreya.” The next statue we saw was the statue of “Guan Gong.” This statue was carved more than 500 years ago. Mr. Wang also showed us the most precious antiquities in the museum. Among all the antiquities that he introduced to us, I like three of them the best, “foot binding cloth,” “ivory carvings,” and “jade burial suit.” I found this visit rewarding because I understood the characteristics and importance of Lujhou City The Forbidden City Museum. Most importantly, this visit enabled me to realize that Mr. Wang collected antiquities for preservation of history.....Shi-han

* I acquired a lot of knowledge about various antiquities in the visit. I was looking forward to see Mr. Wang, and it was my pleasure to meet him. Mr. Wang is a master sculptor and the curator of the museum. Mr. Wang introduced to us the history and denomination of Lujhou, and we all were busy keeping notes. He also showed that the Chinese garden style and various precious treasures inside the museum on our way. He chatted and laughed with us. Moreover, he also showed us the magnetic field developed by the “statue of emperor.” We did not appreciate the antiquities cursorily, but learnt their knowledge. This visit was quite an interesting class..........Hsuan-hong

Students’ feedback:

During our 2nd visit to Lujhou City The Forbidden City Museum, we prepared professional “core” questions for the interview. We were quite curious and nervous when we stepped into the museum. After we entered the museum, the curator passionately said hello to us and showed us the TV interview with him about his thinking and ideas. After watching the TV interview, we started to interview Mr. Wang. We asked several questions, and Mr. Wang tried his best to answer every question in detail, enabling us to acquire new knowledge in the visit to the museum. After this second visit, I felt that my horizon was widen.....Hsuan-hong

In the second visit to Lujhou City The Forbidden City Museum, I started to get familiar with it. I no longer felt nervous and scared as I did in the first visit. The layout in the museum seemed different in this visit. Moreover, Mr. Wang seemed no longer a stranger, but a friendly grandfather to us. Mr. Wang also showed us the video on his museum to enable us to further understand it and ask more questions in detail. I hoped that I could share with visitors of our website the rarest and most creative articles to convey the culture and to propagate the museum and its value……Ya-han

Students’ feedback:

Mr. Wang’s detail introduction in the 3rd visit enabled us to better understand the name, origin, story, and function behind the antiquities. Although the weather on the day was quite cold, our passion for antiquities was not changed. Our in-depth observations and interviews in this visit enabled me to know more about antiquities, such as lotus lantern, a pair of stone lions at the entrance, statue of Wengzhong, Fu-der temple, dismount for civil and military officers during the reign of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty, meat-shaped stone, etc. Among these antiquities, justice cups enabled us to know the ingenuity of the design……Hsuan-hong

This visit enabled us to thoroughly understand the historical stories behind the antiquities. It was great that Mr. Wang personally demonstrated how to use justice cup and explained the theory behind. I learnt a lot from this visit. I really hoped that our research team can complete the project flawlessly in the future……Chen-ru

Students’ feedback:
Unlike the previous three visits in which only several teachers and ten students visited Lujhou City The Forbidden City Museum, the entire class visited the museum in the 4th visit to see the curator and various treasures. Even though the weather was bad and it rained a little bit, we were still in a good mood. We happily set out to go the museum. After walking through the market and crossing the road, we stopped in front of “unique culture inTaiwan” (i.e. dog feces) to listen carefully to what the curator said. The curator took us to the museum and gave us, who participated in the Cyberfair project, a detailed introduction about the history and stories behind various antiquities. We all put on thick coats because the weather was quite cold. We trembled with our fingers to keep the notes of the introduction in detail. As we kept the notes, we also interviewed the curator. What surprised me was that the curator was able to answer all the questions raised by all of us and gave detailed explanations. I really admire and respect him. The curator also said, “Today is your lucky day to read the precious ‘palm-leaf manuscript’ here.” It was true that we acquired a lot of knowledge in this visit. We should be grateful for our good luck and Mr. Wang......Hsuan-hong

In this visit to Lujhou City The Forbidden City Museum, we found some differences in the antiquities and we were more acquainted with the curator. The main purpose of this visit was to have a better understanding of the antiquities. Mr. Wang also knew our objective and what we intended to understand. He answered all the questions raised by us and showed us something special, palm-leaf manuscript. It was amazing that the letters on the manuscript looked like ants.....Ya-han

Exhibition Feedback

2012/2/15~2/20 Campus Exhibition

Date:  2012/2/20(8th meeting)
Participants:  Yi-ying Chan, Tse-ling Chen, Yu-hsin Wu, Husan-hong Lin, Po-han Chen, Wei-hong Chen, Hui-tse Chen, Yi-ting Yang, Ya-Han Yang, Shi-han Chang, Chen-ru Yen, Chia-ling Chiang

Students’ feedback: I started to make painstaking efforts and use my brain a lot since making the posters. In terms of the printing of posters, the posters could be slowly printed out as long as the printer was set up and adjusted well and the paper was placed at the right position. After the posters were printed out, we started to hang them at the hallway of RainbowBuilding. After the posters were hung for a period of time, the students interested in antiquities started to stand over there to appreciate them. I felt a strong sense of accomplishment……Po-Han

Feedback to Website Design

2012/2/8~2/23 Website Design

Date:  2012/2/21(9th meeting)
Participants: Yi-ying Chan, Tse-ling Chen, Yu-hsin Wu, Po-han Chen, Hui-tse Chen, Yi-ting Yang, Chen-ru Yen

Students’ feedback: I thought it would be easy to design a website. It never occurred to me that it would make me feel fatigue to design the website. We had to sacrifice our class hours to design the website and looked at the computer screen all day long. Moreover, we were frequently troubled by some problems. During the design of the website, we found how incompetent we were in terms of computer skills. However, we overcame all the difficulties one by one. I firmly believe that Cyberfair project will become the most beautiful memory in elementary school even though it made me feel exhausted.....Yi-ting

I thought that I only had to copy and paste the contents on the website we designed. It never occurred to me there would be so many problems to be solved during the design of website. We made painstaking efforts to complete the website design. Although we all felt dizzy by watching computer screen, we still persisted until the end. We hope that our hard wording will be rewarding……Chen-ru
