ˇ@ˇ@The area of Dadaocheng is located near Danshuei River. During Ching Dynasty, it started to be the most prosperous business center in Taipei City. Tea and fabrics were the major trading items. The history of this area is very fascinating.

This is the famous Xiahai City God Temple.

At Xiahai City God Temple, there is a god who is in charge of match making for people to ask him for good marriages.

Chen Tian-lai Residence

 

This residence was built in 1920. The business of exporting tea in Dadaocheng was at high peak at that time. The architectural style of this three-story residence is a mixture of east and west, with fine decorations and beautiful arches. It plays an important role witnessing the history of Dadaocheng.

DiHua Street

 

Earliest building on DiHua Street was built on 1850. This area has been an important commercial and distributing center of miscellaneous goods, tea, Chinese herbal medicines and fabrics. Nowadays, there are over 100 fabric manufacturing companies, over 300 fabric distributers and over 200 stores selling Chinese herbal medicines in this area.

LiChunSheng memorial church

 

During Ching dynasty, Mr. Chun-Sheng Li was a famous merchant in Dadaocheng. He helped British people trading foreign goods and tea. Later he started his own trading business and became the second richest person in Taiwan.
