Rixin Primary School is
situated in an old neighborhood, surrounded by
Dadaocheng, old Jiancheng Circle and Zhongshan North
Road, where you could find many historical sites and
culture. Just by walking on the main streets or passing
through small alleys, you find yourself entering a
community of mixture of the old and the new, as well as
full of unexpected surprises.
This area was once flourished with commerce and also the
main traffic center for people migrating from south
Taiwan to stay.
You could find traditional Fujian-style architectures
just around the corner, and also the glamorous town
houses and mansions in Dadaocheng, while at another
corner you could find a wooden building of Japanese
colonial period situated right next to a building dated
back to the period of World War II.
Through the guide of our teacher, we step by step look
into the diversified facades of the architectures in
this area and gain knowledge of historical buildings by
visiting the brick-built red buildings in our
neighborhood and Taipei city.
From each and every visiting experience, we listen to
the stories told by the historical buildings themselves.
Just stop by and pay attention, you¡¦re going to
understand the stories they¡¦re telling.
Apart from the historical architectures, we are also
touched by the warmth given by people in the buildings.
During each visit, all the hosts and hostesses greet us
with such an enthusiasm sharing with us their precious
life experiences that we are all coming home with great
memories and hoping that we¡¦re able to give back to the
society in the future just like them.
So, come and join us to listen to what these historical
building are about to say! You¡¦re going to understand
that the old buildings are not just ruins waiting to be
torn down. Actually it¡¦s worth our efforts to protect
and preserve them. Let¡¦s go!
