1. preface
When first walked into the restaurant, we were so shy to
speak with the owner of restaurant. After encouraged by
teach, we started to tell him that we wish to visit the
restaurant for educational purpose of learning about the
history of the Jiancheng Circle. The owner and his wife
warmly welcomed us to enter, and asked us to sit around
the big counter where he could chat with customers while
preparing food for them.

2. Introduction of Wan Fu Hao
When we were looking into the information collected
for the background of this restaurant, we found out that
the founder of this restaurant was named ¡§Xin Wen¡¨. We
asked the owner why this restaurant didn¡¦t use ¡§Xin Wen¡¨
as its name. He told us that in the beginning they were
a food stand without shop name. Later when government
required them to register and pay tax, the owner at that
time was the son of ¡§Xin Wen¡¨, whose name was ¡§Wan Fu¡¨.
As a result, they us Wan Fu for registration.

3. Product introduction
A. Mixed Vegetable Roll
The owner demonstrated to us how to make the mixed
vegetable roll for us and told us about the history
of it. He said that in the past, the mixed vegetable
roll was made of the leftover of meals. Because food
was very precious in the past, people were really
cautious not to waste any food. They wrapped the
leftover with pastry and became a roll filled with
vegetable and food.

B. Taiwanese Burger
Another delicious food sold here is the Taiwanese
burger. It¡¦s also called ¡§Tiger Bites Pig¡¨ with pork
inside. It is told that because it looks like a
purse, eating it will bring you lots of money.
Chinese food often has some connection and
indication with good luck and fortune. This makes
eating them even more interesting.
C. Zongzi: The aroma is rich, and the taste is so
good. It¡¦s the favorite of many customers.

4. Memorial of the old Jiancheng Circle
The owner told us that in the past, from Jiancheng
Circle to Taipei Bridge, the whole area along Chongching
north road were full of food stands and restaurants. The
owner told us, in the old time when they opened the food
stand inside Jiancheng Circle, all the stands were like
a big family. Customers could buy food from other stand,
take it to this stand and eat together with the food at
this stand. All the children were studying in the same
school, and they would walked around and played together
after school. People even helped taking care of each
other¡¦s children and business at emergency.
5. The warmth and
kindness in old neighborhood
I think the warmth and kindness here is the most
appealing thing in old community like this. The owner
greeted us with so much sincerity, answered our
questions of curiosity, told us about the stories and
history of Jiancheng Circle and even treated us with
delicious food for free. We are all deeply touched by
their kindness and friendliness!
