Expectations

In an instant, our Cyberfair project is coming to an end. In retrospection, the efforts in each morning and lunch break in these several months are really weary! I believe the students also feel the same.

Although it was wearisome, seeing that the children improved gradually over the period, and that they were more and more fluent and systematic in writing interview materials made the wearisome worthy. In addition, it is also our aim to let people have, through this chance, a further understanding of the volunteer team of Xisong Elementary School, so that the voices of these volunteers can be heard, so as to receive more supports and encouragements.

Finally, we want to thank all interviewees for their time to accept our interview, so that our research project can be finished smoothly, and that we can have a deeper understanding about the volunteer group.

Tony Tsai

“Volunteer” is a pay-free job of working behind the scene. Through this Cyberfair project, I have a deeper understanding about the school's volunteer team. They always support the school quietly behind the scene, and contribute their efforts and time to the school selflessly. Thanks to them, children in Xisong Elementary School are safe and grow up under a diverse environment. I hope through this research, more parents will understand the volunteer group and join them to help the child in Xisong Elementary School!

Furthermore, I also see that the children who joined the research are improving gradually. From the simple sentences and awkward vocabularies in the beginning, to the unstoppable content flowing from their mind and the amazing wordings gradually appear in the interview transcripts later, these are improvements! I think no matter what the competition result is, you have already won yourselves the biggest prize!

Sunflower Volunteer Team of Xisong Elementary School was founded for a long time, most of the people may, perhaps, have heard of the volunteer team but do not know what it really does. Through this chance, we can investigate and appreciate deeply about the efforts of the volunteers, who service us quietly nearby.

This time under the direction of Mr. Tsai, the students from Xisong Elementary School discuss, interview, write down their reflections during their free time. Each note and reflection recorded the children's feelings; through their attentive reports and records, people may know about the volunteers' efforts and their situations behind the scene. I believe that afterward when we see volunteers guiding traffic in the morning, or borrow books from the library, etc, we will be remember to say ‘thank you!' to the volunteers!

I didn't know much about volunteers until I was involved in this project. It was backbreaking to translate all the stuff into English and reorganize the data. However, I was pleased to work with these nice collegues. "Happier to give than to take," after the project, I do believe so.
