Project Elements

What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your Cyberfair project?

  • In the process of the research, we collected data through the books, the internet, interview, questionnaire and attending the workplace.
  • To record the interview, we made use of cell phones, recording pen, cameras and DV.
  • We used the printer, the scanner, and computer reference books , in the follow-up data reorganizing, editing, homepage design. Among these equipment, computers and the Internet are the most important of all. All the devices we used are offered by team members or our school.
  • The Software we used:Windows XP/Vista,Dreamweaver CS3,Photoshop CS3,Office 2003/2007,Internet Explorer 7,Photoimpact 11/12,Yahoo Messager,Firefox,Xnview,Real Player,Winamp,eXe,SwishMax,Sonicstage 3.4.

In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your Cyberfair project both on-line and in person.

  • Interview in person: In this case study, we interviewed many people devoting themselves in the Chia-yi Old Prison. Through the interview, we understood how the prison runs and each member's devoting story. We hope to offer the public the first-hand information which was obtained through the interview.
  • Questionnaire: Through the questionnaire, we not only made people understand Chia-yi Old Prison but play the role of ambassador to promote the prison. We also hope people can get a clearer picture about the Chia-yi Old Prison.
  • Attending the workplace: Attending the workplace in person and experiencing imprison in Chia-yi Old Prison is one important part of our research. We simulated all things which prisoners did. After that, We knew that prison just like a society. Now we all don't want to be imprison.

What has been the impact of your project on your community?

  • The influence on us: In this research, we learned from Old Chiayi Prison that "Never do anything bad" "Prison isn't a mysterious place,it just like a small society" . What's more, we deeply realized that it is better to give than to receive. Growing up in the green house, we never knew to be grateful and to repay until we did this study. This kind of feeling is so fantastic that we regarded it as a very important lesson in our lives.
  • Build up good relationship with local people: Through this study, we walked out of campus, touched people in all walks of life, and, by this means, understood the role people play in all walks of life. In a group, no matter who you are, everyone is a key person. We appreciated the administrators of this prison who offered us the data we needed and invited us to attend their meeting. Unknowingly, we seemed to become one member of this prison. Most of all, we appreciated the volunteers who shared their experience of doing good with us when we joined the bridge construction. Each of them is our mentor.
  • Website contribution: We hope through the internet, people all over the world can know the spirit of this charity organization and all of its lovely members. We'd like to present Taiwan to the world not only as an island of economic and democratic miracles but also as an island of love and hope. Everyone is welcome to join our charity work.

How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

To respect brainchild, we attached reference to note the source of our data, most of which were collected by interview or referring to some documents. As for the pictures, most of them are shot by us and some of them are offered by Old Chiayi Prison. Before study, we would present our research purpose in order to make them understand our need as well as expressing our respect to them. During the whole study process, we emphasized respecting brainchild for fear that we might invade someone's rights and interests.

Problems We Had to Overcome

  • Insufficient Time We students ,who just attended senior high, have not been used to the stress of schoolwork. Therefore, we don't have abundant time to do the research. Once we set up the research schedule, we completed the tasks one by one.
  • Team Work When working on the project, we had different opinions from time to time. However, we all respected each other. After repeated discussion, we would reach a conclusion in the end.
  • Persistence During the research, we were under all sorts of pressure, like schoolwork, time limit, and so on. We once thought of quitting the project, but finally we overcame the challenge.
