Foreword

Taiwanese are used to asking for a safe charm in a temple, they believe the charm can help them against evils. each temple has own way of asking for a safe charm.

Step 1:Worship the Main Gods

A safety charmed can not be got without gods' permission.

Go into the main hall and pay homage to the main gods, then speak three informations to the gods: 'what name?', 'where live?', 'What request?'.

Insert joss sticks into the gods' censer, and then cast the divining blocks. (Divining blocks: two matching wooden blocks shaped like the halves of a cashew nut).

If the result of casting the divining blocks is good, you can ask for a safety charm from Miao-Gong(Person administering the affairs of temple).

Information

It would be better for person to make his charm 'Guo-Huo' every year.

Miao-Gong, uncle Cai, told us: "It would be better for person to carry his safety charm to temple again every year. The person with a safety charm comes to temple after a year, he has to make the charm 'Guo-Huo' in order to get gods' blessing again.

Guo-Huo: take a charm above gods' censer, then move in a circle.
