aborigine doctor opened a clinic in our village. Dr. Fan Chien-long is the
first Truku native willing to abandon the opportunity to operate a clinic in
the city and returned to this remote country to serve his tribe’s people. Also,

Profile: In the aboriginal
society in Taiwan, Truku people are really proud of their weaving. Ms. Hsu learned
how to weave form her mother when she was a child. Also, she takes weaving as
part of her life. Now, she would love the next generation to inherit her skills
to let traditional Truku weaving continue and developed further, to allow
traditional weaving to shine in its glory.TOP

Profile: Shan-ren Woodcarving Workshop was founded by three aborigine
friends from different tribes: Truku, Bunun, and Amais. With wood carving as their
common interest, they established this workshop together. Taught by an Amais
teacher, they opened up another window to develop their talents. In addition,
they also brought new hope and further development to Hong Ye Tribe. Following
their destiny, Shan-ren Workshop was founded in mid February, 2005.TOP

Profile: Mr. Chen-Lin was the
ex-Chair of the Wan-rong Township Council. He feels deeply towards the hunters
that make their living on hunting, sustain their lives with dignity, and
respect nature although they take from nature. Therefore, he feels he has a
mission to use the pestle, mortar, and arrow our ancestors used. He has been
studying these tools enthusiastically for a long time. With traditional methods,
he can make better and finer tools. In 2004, he led the arching team of our
village to Hualien County Sports Day and won the first prize in Arching (both
group champion and individual champion).TOP

Although Tadao Beilin
is a disabled person, with his passion towards art, he has made awesome
accomplishments in carving. In addition, he is an expert on antiques, weird
stone, and special wood. Of course, he wins prizes in many art contests in
Taiwan from time to time!TOP
