When we decided the theme this year, we all expressed different opinions, such as: Father Chocolate, Puppet Museum, We are Yonghe Residents, Assistive Device Maker Chi-kuang Tuan, etc. After a heated discussion, we decided to name the theme as "Assistive Device Maker Chi-kuang Tuan.”

When we began to collect information, we found that Mr. Chi-kuang Tuan's interviews and reports and relevant information were few, so we couldn't make a website with rich content. So, after discussion, we decided to change the theme.

As arts and humanities textbooks for fifth grade touch on hand puppetry and the school’s kindergarten once visited Ming Hsu Shih Glove Puppet Theater Troupe, and after collecting researching materials on the Internet, we found that the troupe has been running for a hundred years and is a very meaningful traditional art in Taiwan. Therefore, we decided the new theme as “Ming Hsu Shih Glove Puppet Theater Troupe.”

In the early days, watching the hand puppet show at the temple was an unforgettable childhood memory for many people. However, due to various reasons, the traditional troupes are gradually declining, and the art is likely to be lost in the future. It is hoped that through our research and in-depth introduction, more people would be able to know more about Taiwan’s traditional art – budaixi (hand puppet show) – and fall for it, so that it can continue to be passed on.
