Lukang Cultural Cradle

Project Narrative

Elements

“Lukang Wen Wu Temple” consists of Wen temple, Wu temple and Wenkai Academy of classical learning. There are three buildings, which are laid in a line and Wen temple and Wu temple are laid side by side. The layout is rare in Taiwan. Wen Temple was built in 1806, followed by the Wu Temple (built in 1811) and the Wenkai Academy (built in 1824). "Wen Temple" is dedicated to Emperor Wenchang, offering sacrifices to the people. Many parents and candidates come to pray prior to every test season. The Wen Temple is also the important place for the development of Lukang's poetry and literature. Lukang's first poetry club "Bashe" was established in the Wen Temple. The Wu Temple is dedicated to Guan Yu. The Wenkai Academy is one of Lukang's three historic sites. In 1824, a governmental official Li Fantong knew Chuan-an Teng. He found that study prevailed, but there was no place for study. He took the lead in donating 1,000 yuan to build a study site. Besides, the Lukang's official Chih-liang Hsueh led Shih-Tao Chen and Rimaohang Chen-sung Lin's son Wen-jiun Lin to donate money for building the academy. The academy has more than 20,000 books and 300,000 volumes. It cultivated 6 Wen jinshi, 1 Wu jinshi, 16 juren and 100 xiucai and more than 100 talented people. It is the cradle of ancient Lukang culture. Lukang Township, Changhua County is our hometown, the most important foreign trade port and economic and transportation hub in central Taiwan during Dutch period and the Qing Dynasty. "Fucheng, Lugang and Manka" describes Lukang's golden years. Lukang's heyday was between 1785 and 1845. During these 60 years, Lukang's development and potential advantages were driven by its chartered port opened to Hanjiang in Fujian Province, and was brought into full play. As Lukang has a long history of development, many historic sites remain in the township, forming important tourist resources. With its prosperous literary style and rich humanities, Lukang has become a gathering place for immigrants from all over Taiwan, and has also developed rich intellectual culture and diverse scenic spots and historic sites.

How did we combine this project with the school courses? The following table can be used to illustrate:

School course

ld interviews,

Language

Through many discussions, writing experience and field interviews, writing progress reports, reading website content, related books, collecting and analyzing data, and collating data, we can cultivate our writing ability and other language skills.

Social Studies

Through interviews with Wen Wu Temple, we have learned about the historical background of Wenkai Academy, Wen Temple and Wu Temple. The academy has more than 20,000 books and 300,000 volumes. It cultivated 6 wenjinshi, 1 wujinshi, 16 juren and more than 100 xiucai, which is the cradle of ancient Lukang culture.

Arts

After field interview, we learned the skills such as taking pictures, framing, close-up, web pages making and drawing and a lot of art editor concepts.

Topic for information

Team activities can make us know our strengths and weaknesses, learn the strengths of others, and group discussion and interviews or records can enhance our courage, encourage us to raise questions, and express our views.

Comprehensive activities

Establishment year and reconstruction year of Wenkai Academy, Wen Temple and Wu Temple is positive in odd number and negative in even number in traditional architecture. The building seldom applied mathematics knowledge.

Mathematics

In the process, we learned how to use information technology, software and hardware, search data through the Internet, and use Google's comments to understand and learn the historical background of Wenkai Academy, Wen Temple, Wu Temple, traditional architecture, and finally present the whole work through web pages.

1. What new skills did you learn?

(1) Learn how to cooperate with others:

Because each student has different skills, they use different skills to contribute to the team.

For example: Wan-lun's information skills are quite strong, and he is our team leader. He was responsible for all the data files, and uploaded and taught team members to edit webpages pictures with EditPlus, decompress and edit photos.

Hsin-wan's writing and revision skills are first-rate. In order to make the topic present perfectly, he always undertook a lot of work on his own, but never complained.

Li-chi has strong art edition ability, and their cute illustrations make the style of web pages lively.

Yu-kai, Hsuan-ming, Chun-sheng, Chia-hsien and Chia-i worked hard for the team to cooperate with the team leader and the teacher to divide the work.

(2) Learn about note-taking methods and interview skills in the interview:

Writing keywords in the notes can avoid omissions caused by blurred memory, and recording can make interview data more detailed.

More outline headings can also be extended by typing the transcripts.

In the interview, we must first read the historical literature data of Wen Wu Temple and propose relevant questions. First, two people form one group to practice the interview and then delete the inappropriate questions. In the actual interview the most important thing is that we should further question to get in-depth and interesting topics when we encounter some questions worth exploring.

(3) In writing character sketch, we learned more about the historical background of the temple:

We collected more information about Jinshi, Yongjin, Wukui during Lukang heyday of 1785 to 1845 and modern calligraphers.

"Lukang Wen Wu Temple" consists of Wen Temple, Wu Temple and Wenkai Academy. We discussed traditional architecture and literature to make impossible tasks possible.

(4) Learned the computer-related knowledge and skills required for making web pages:

First used the camera to take different panoramic or close-up pictures, then learned to compress and edit pictures, so that the picture effect is clear and not dull.

In the design of banner graphs, each headline has two or three dissolved graphs designs, which can create a warm and elegant web. In order to increase the project depth, we use Google disk and comments of middle school students on Wen Wu Temple. Finally, we used EDITPLUS to edit the web page, and after compile program codes and we finally completed the work. The excitement is beyond words. It's our nine months' hard work!

2. What team work concepts and methods we practiced or tried?

At first, we were thrilled to join the Lu Treasure Hunt Team.

However, due to sacrifice of holidays, pressure from timely submission of essays and serious lag of progress, the enthusiasm at the beginning was gradually extinguished, and the conflict between teachers and partners began. We held an emergency meeting to discuss the purpose of making the Cyberfair project, division of responsibilities, and importance of mutual support among partners and other related issues.

Students are the main objects of learning, and instructors are advisers and consultants.

As a result, the team leader began to assign work according to their skills, and planned interview schedule and liaisons.

We also worked together in groups for drafting, group interview and divided work to complete progress reports and web page production to reduce the workload.

Gradually, we reached a consensus that the web page making depends on the joint efforts and commitment of the team. If we only pay attention to the fairness of work assignment, some pages may not be complete and focused.

In this process, we realize that the team needs selfless dedication, unity has strength and wisdom, and there can be no lasting and sincere unity without sincere equality or inadequate equality.

3. Used the Internet for teaching and learning, which is more efficient than traditional methods.

Now the Internet is very convenient. We used Google files and Drive to organize text and collect data. We also used Google to search related articles or information. Compared with the traditional way of typing articles, the Internet is very fast, and can collect more pages and information for our reference.

※What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your Cyberfair project?

1.For us, the most useful tool is...

Google Drive-Use Google Drive for data collation

2.The equipment we use:

1.Desktops-Make web pages, collect and organize data, and upload photos

2.Digital camera-Take photographs needed for web page

3.Printers-Print literature documents

4.Smart phones-Collect data and liaison with team members

5.Recorder pen-Record the interview to adjust the focus

6.Indoor mobile phone-Contact with respondents on related matters

7.Flash drive - Save photos

8.Scanner-Scan picture

9.edit plus-Webpage typesetting。
