July 19, 2013 was an important day. This was the day we wanted to give our 100% for our shared goal!
We all come from different classes and we didn’t know each other in the beginning. However, the frequent interactions among us throughout the Cyberfair project quickly made us friends. In the end, we became the best team with strong morale and seamless collaboration.
We learned from the dedication and selfishness of Neighbourhood Chief, Mr. Lin. He managed to convince land owners in the town city (where land is expansive) to give access to their land free-of-charge so that Chungchuan Community Park could be developed. This green space is a valuable resource for residents to enjoy leisure activities. Mr. Lin grew the flowers and trees and covered the park with a lawn. He painted the community walls so that residents could enjoy a beautiful environment. To ensure the safety in transportation and prevent crimes, he asked for a budget to install CCTV. He swept the streets of the community to make sure it was clean and tidy. To establish solidarity among local residents, he organized many activities under the assistance of his wife. He was always at the forefront whenever residents approached him for help. His devotion became an inspiration and many locals became volunteer workers. As a neighbourhood chief, he has done such an amazing job!
We were touched by Mr. Lin’s dedication and drive for perfection. He is our role model for our behaviour at school. We all serve different functions in class and at school: class leaders, teachers’ helpers, volunteer workers, disciplinary patrols and boy scouts. We gain trust from classmates and teachers only when we do our jobs well. Because we want to do a great job, we pursue excellence and effectiveness. The result is that we become better in what we can do for others.
This was why we initiated a promotional campaign at school and organized a service team. We hope to nurture the seeds of helping others from our class to our school and extend our reach to our community and the society. We want to inspire a spirit of service and a love for our home and country.
Over the period of seven months from July 2013 to January 2014, we were kept busy by the Cyberfair project. However, this was a fruitful journey. We are grateful for all the help we received from Mr. and Mrs. Lin, local residents at Chungchuan Neighborhood, our teachers and parents. We supported each other in our team along the way. The growth we achieved from this project is our greatest reward
