Xiaoxi Today

紅葉親子童玩館Portrait with owner of Red Leaf Family Recreation Center

In recent years, to bring back some of the glory of Xiaoxi’s past, local residents founded the “Family Recreation Center,” “Bagua Salon,” and “Xiaoxi Cultural Association,” hoping to thereby gather the strength of the people to revitalize the neighborhood. Their efforts were noticed and supported by the Chanhua County Cultural Affairs Bureau and City Government, which establishments helped implement the overall stylistic impression of Xiaoxi, such as engraving on the local ditch covers the symbolic lucky charm design, the house shrew, and together with the cultural activists of Xiaoxi attaining for the Railway Hospital the status of county-level historical relic, saving it from its impending fate of being torn down—among other efforts, all in the hope that the cultural specificity of Xiaoxi can be preserved and that it can be refurbished into a stylistically distinct Xiaoxi Street.
