Dogs have a strong sense of region. Besides, they also have a strong sense of smell.  Therefore, odors become the best way to communicate with each other.

We can often see that on the street ,dogs  raise their feet and urinate on the pillar. They are making their own signs. It means that the place belongs to the dog. When other dogs smell the odor ,then they will realize the place belongs to the dog ,who made the sign. However, if here comes a stronger dog, its urine covers in the previous  dog's urine, and they will fight for their territory. That is what we see frequently. The  dog ,who is beaten, won't urinate and make a sign in that region    

Nevertheless, there is another reason why dogs urinate for signs, in order not to lose their way.

By urinating along the street, they can follow the trail of odors at a long distance from ten miles to hundreds miles and they won't lose their way. That's so amazing!

After urinating, here will become my own place.

Puppies have wildness in nature, so we can always notice that before sleeping, dogs at home or outward stray dogs are used to digging a hole ,or scratch the ground in the place which they sleep. This is their nature to sleep at ease in the lair which they scratch. Therefore, dogs will clean up the place before they sleep.  

And the other way of scratching holes is owing to the leftovers. For storing food ,they will scratch out a hole in the ground to cover bones or meats which are not eaten yet. Sometimes, a few amount of them may hide the leftovers with fallen leaves.

Immediately dig a hole to hide the bones.

After hiding it, cover it with fallen leaves.

Dogs were used to living a hunting and colony life. Hunting can drive the objects, and then they will make use of group power to get food. Therefore, moving objects can cause dogs' natural instincts to hunt. For this reason, we can realize when we meet with dogs and run away because of fears, we will be chased by dogs. The best way is to keep still and leave quietly.

When the puppy detects that someone invades its place, or feels that it is threatened, it will make some noise to warn. But, if the puppy is too happy and exciting, it will sway its tail and bark happily. The habit to bark has nothing to do with its size of body, but relates to its characteristics. Nervous dogs are easier to bark owing to the rustle of leaves in the wind. On the contrary, steady dogs bark only when they want to give a caution to the object.
