In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your
Cyberfair project both on-line and in person.
Because our school
principal, our parents and the volunteers of Butterfly Conservation
Society of Taiwan help us a lot, we can make appointments with experts
and collect information very smoothly and successfully. Our school
principal was much moved by our work, so he led us into Da-jin waterfall
to make an exploration by himself and tell us the history of Da-jin
waterfall there.
What has been the impact of your project on your
community?
In
recent years, local people started to realize that natural resources
could be lost. Since the opening of Maolin National Scenic Area, the
area has drawn thousands of tourists and consequently suffered damage to
the environment. The damage was particularly threatening to some species
of butterflies. Learning the facts, local people have voluntarily joined
butterfly conservatory associations, sponsored research and taken action
to protect and restore local habitats, limiting entrance by way of
reservation.
How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers
and volunteers?

Liao jin-shan:

a full-time volunteer of Butterfly Conservation Society of Taiwan. It
goes without saying that he is really an expert. He always give you an
excellent answer no matter what kinds of questions about butterfly.
