             More about Western dragons

      Both in Chinese and western culture or legends, dragons appear as the strong creatures. But there are many differences and similarities between them. So we gathered much information about Chinese and western dragons, and discussed with our American and Italian friends on the blog "Dragons' legend." They offered us lots of important information about western dragons and it's good to know that they love dragons. 

This is our blog called "Dragons' legend" 

      After discussing the western dragons and Chinese dragons with our teammates and our foreign friends. We compared them based on their appearance, abilities, and so on, and made lists on their differences and similarities. It's interesting to know more about the magical and legendary dragons and their different images in different cultures.

1. People's feeling and  ideas about dragons.

People in Chinese think that Chinese dragons are lucky creatures which can bring happiness and power, and even worshiped as gods.

Western dragons are portrayed as evil because they would eat people or destroy villages. So there is much folklore about the fighting between heroes and dragons. But there are still some exceptions. Some of them are wise and would help people when they need advice.

2. Dragons' legs

Chinese dragons all have four legs.

Some Western Chinese have two legs, but some of them have four legs. 

3. Dragons' wings

Most Chinese dragons don’t have wings.

Western dragons usually have bat-like or bird-like wings. 

4. Dragons' skin

Chinese dragons have scales.

Some western dragons have leather skin, not scales.

5. Dragons and festivals

Chinese dragons often appear in Chinese festivals, celebration and weddings.

As we know, western dragons seldom appear in festivals.

6. Similarity and differences with other dragons which are the same species.

Most Chinese dragons look similar though they have different colors and small parts of body features.

Western dragons look very different from other western dragons. Some look like snakes, when others look like dinosaurs, and even lions.

Many Chinese and western dragons live in mountains, sea, or rivers.

2.Dragons' abilities

Chinese dragons and Western dragons have similar abilities, like flying or breathing fire.

3.They are mysterious animals.

No one, (if yes, only few) has ever seen real Chinese and Western dragons. And that is why so many legends and stories about dragons have been talked for thousands of years.          

4.They are powerful.

Western and Chinese dragons are the symbols of power.

5.They look like animals.

We can see many animals’ features on Chinese and western dragons. 

6. They are hatched from eggs.

According to the legends, Western and Chinese dragons are hatched from eggs.
