Taipei 101 Introduction to Each Level

Taipei 101-Special Feature

The tallest building in the world is now erected in Taipei.  The TAIPEI 101 of 508 meters in height has overtaken the Sears Tower of Chicago, U.S.A. previously ranking number 1 in the world.  The master of architecture CY Lee has designed the latest 21st century architecture with the traditional Chinese belief architecture.  The shape of TAIPEI 101 is design with the concept of bamboo.  At the base of 26F, each section is formed top wide and down narrow in the shape of a funnel.  In the symbol of Chinese culture, it indicates rising section by section.  As every eight floors form a funnel and there are a total of eight funnels, it symbolizes the talent as high as 8 funnels.  In addition, each eight floors of eight sections are pronounced as ˇ§fafaˇ¨ and symbolize the meaning of prosperity.   In addition, there are flying dragons locating at the four corners on the building.  There are also 26 pieces of ancient coins outside the building.  There is also official seal (ordinarily called Imperial Jade Seal) are all treasure of tranquilizing the building.
Building Technology:
1.The wind damper installed in the observatory floor does not exist only on the TAIPEI 101 but exists in all super building in the world.  Why there is a need for wind damper?  As the building is very tall and to resolve the problem of typhoon blowing the building or the vibration of building due to earthquake, the wind damper is needed for maintain the balance of the building.  The damper of TAIPEI 101 is a suspending ball of 660 tons hung from 92F down to 87F.  The diameter of the damper is 5.5 meters at cost of US$4 millions.  This is the only wonder that could be seen outside the building (the meaning of the damper is to absorb the vibration of the building and distribute outside in order to achieve the balance of the building.  It could make people staying on the building feeling more comfortable).
2.There are more than 20 units of lifts, where the two for the observatory platform are the fastest lifts in the whole world.  The speed of the lift could reach as high as 60 kilometers per hour.  It will take just 38 seconds to climb from 5F to reach 89F on the observatory platform.  This is also the only constant voltage and high temperature ceramic breaking system in the world that is designed with smart high-speed lift.
3.The eyebrow lighting of the building has the most features of all.  The eyebrow light literally is the lighting inside the building at the same level as the height of eyebrow.  These lights are internally set for any kind of control.

Many people wonder whether there is special meaning for TAIPEI 101.  Actually, when designing the construction of this building was going to be similar to the 85 stories building in Kaohsiung.  Later after discussion it was felt might as well to combine the three portions of the building into 99 floors.  But this is slightly less than 100 floors and was officially decided to build 101 floors, meaning better than 100 floors.  The other meaning is for digital technology, which has the meaning of 1 and 0 computer language.
