The story begins
Teresa Teng was born in Yunlin County in 1953, and her father was a soldier.

At age 6, her family moved to Taipei County Lujhou Township, and she went to Lujhou Elementary School.

In a school anniversary celebration, her talent for performance was discovered, and she sang especially well.

She performed very well in public speaking and singing competitions.

Her mother often took her to perform for soldiers with the Nine-three Band.
She also practiced singing next to Tamshui River.
In Grade 4 she won first-place at the Chinese Television System's singing competition.

And she was won first-place in many other competitions.
She was a very talented child.

Before graduating, she took a photo at the now famous bridge and stream, which still stands today.

After graduating from elementary school, she began to perform at various restaurants and started her entertainment career.
At the age of 14, she released her first album, ¡§Celebratory Drums¡¨.

She became famous in TV programs and was labeled ¡§A female singing genius. She also moved out of Lujhou.

She received good reviews in concerts all over the world and became an international superstar.

Teresa Teng is a very hard-working female singer. She could perform in many languages.

She sang Japanese in Japan.
She performed in Cantonese in Hong Kong.
She became popular in America, South-east Asia and other countries.

The people of China called her "Teng Junior ", and she was considered second to their leader " Teng Senior".

However, she was very patriotic and refused many invitations by China.

After the age of 30, she moved overseas and began to slowly move away from the entertainment industry.
In May 1995, she died from an asthma attack in Thailand, at the age of 42.

Teresa Teng was buried in ChinPoSan, Teng's Garden, and left behind eternal longings.

Today many fan still travel to Teng's Garden to honor and remember her.
Also, Lujhou city council holds Teresa Teng Singing Competitions to show respect for her singing talent.
