In
the kick-off meeting of this “A home to the fish” project,
children watched the movie of how the majestic warship was
burst up and suck into seabed, and then became to be the future
beautiful castle for aquatic livings. These little team members
were impressed, and their strong eagerness to further understand
and be attentive to the protection of sea world was shown
on their sparkling eyes.
After uploading their first reports, all kids felt much self-achieved.
They expressed what they learned and what they thought by
drawing and writing short essay. These were shown on web pages,
which were really dainty and sincere. They all participated
in the discussion meetings, movie watching, data searching
and Fishery Administration (FA) visiting. We interviewed the
Managing Director of FA (Mr. Hsieh Da-Wen), Section head (Mr.
Lin Guo-Ping), Technical Chief (Mr. Wang Mao-Cheng) and Public
Relationship (Mr. Kuo Xin-Sheng), and learned a lot from them
on the captioned subject.
We had been waiting for a good weather for going to the sea.
Finally we had our wish fulfilled and we saw how FA staff
throw the reef. We interviewed the Administration of Fishing
of Tao-Yuan County (Mr. Yu Yeh-Shen), Captain of the ship
we boarded(Mr. Chang Jin-Feng), Diver (Mr. Wu Mu-Shen), Chief-secretary
of Tao-Yuan County Farmers’ association (Mr. Chen Yih-Cheng)
and the designer of steel reef (Mr. Yen Rui-Heng), and came
out a professional report of how reef is set up.
By the group discussion between teacher and students, we designed
an electronic drawing book and it then became to be a talking
book. The students were very excited when they heard their
voice from the talking book. Script discussion, dub recording
… etc., all kids were excited and nervous in each step. Though
they are just kids at the age of 8 or 9, the spirit of their
devoting themselves to the project and the growth along with
the project is really amazing and applauded by adults. Furthermore,
we shared this fish care project with other students. We conducted
two conferences and the target audience was the students in
grade 1-3 . In the conference, we played the movie of warship
reef and the talking book designed by us All 11 little team
members presented what they learned and thought, and the feedback
was great. It fully achieved what we expected.
Starting with learning how warship reef is set up, knowing
enormous and gentle shark – whale shark, interviewing the
Managing Director of FA, and consulting with the experts,
we realized the urgency and importance of caring the resources
of sea world, and we also complied the script of the show
of sea world environment. Through these activities and designs,
we worked as a team, leaned the team building and cooperation,
learned how to care earth and our living environment, learned
earnest and responsibility, and learned interpersonal communication
and presentation skills. The inner meaning of this project
is extraordinary. It’s not just a web page design. Enlightening
the children to know how to love themselves as well as to
care others, isn’t it the most beautiful part of sincerity?
We hope the world will be influent by the heart of caring
earth via the endless cyber world.
