The Process of Paper-making

After collecting information, we had an amazing discovery.
The process of making seed paper is different from that of making regular paper we used, but it is more similar to that of making traditional paper! This discovery gave us a thought of trying to do it by ourselves. Therefore, we started to find our own way to make paper.

The whole process of making paper

Because the process of seed paper is time wasting, and the final process cannot be heated then seed will died and there is a limit of seed decision making, so it is hard to finish in a short time
we wrote down the whole process after we looking for the expert.

First, soak the wasted paper in the water at least for a day.   If you don’t want to spend a lot of time on it, you can spoil it on the pot. This is faster way to soften the paper.
Then put the paper into blender, water and paper in the ratio 3: 1.
That’s to say, we only need to put a quarter of paper into a half water. (You can add some pigments during the process of rubbing.)
When the paper looks like soup (now put some pigments as well), you can filter the papering on the net (You can choose the container you like.) and spill the seed on papering(The small seed can get into papering easier than big one.) Then put the seed lightly on the surface of the papering and use towel to soak water.
Take the container away (if you cannot take it off, thrum it.) and dry it at least for 24 hours.

Remember, not to parch or seed is going to die and we can plant nothing.
If the seed paper is uneven on its surface, you can even it with ballast.
After all the process, you will have your own seed paper!

Tradition paper making technique

First of all, we need steam tree bark until it's soft. Then the tree bark is bleached so the paper will turn white.
The third step is to put the tree bark into a beater and turn them into cellulous fiber sheet.Water is removed from the sheet and the sheet is folded like tofu. Next step is todry the paper and float the paper like iron clothes.

The place where making paper

We're students. It's really hard to find a factory in an urban area like Taipei city. After many times of searching. We finally find a workshop located at Songshan cultural and Creative Park that can make us experience the whole process of producing paper.

Visiting a Paper-making store—Pinkoi

It is a place that is immersed with the feeling of hipster. All the products here is made by hand. We can feel the temperature of those products which is not done by machines but by hand.
The instructors teach us every single step of producing paper.
From the first procedure, pulping the recycled paper to the finishing product. We've learned and produced it very very carefully. Experience the conversation of silence between man and paper.
Every time you walk into the workshop. You can completely feel the tiny details of every single step. Watching those masters concentrating on making those papers and the refabrication of liquid paper pulp and becoming pieces of paper at a width of tofu.
Finally, those paper experience low temperature barking and becoming a thin coaster. It really amazes us.
The process of seed paper is like this as well. Putting the seed into paper pulp and then dry it.
Because we need to take our works away on that day and it needs quick drying, so we can’t practically make the seed paper.
Through these process, we can feel hard-working of the related industry.
Every piece of paper is going to remake and air drying then it can rebirth.

But it proves that the industry in Taiwan not only wants profit but also the passion of environment and the thought of giving back to nature.
