The Eye upon Skyline,

              The Beauty beyond Infinity

1.  Our Community

For a long time the aerial photo has been used to record topography of a certain area. Like an eye in the sky, those photographs can help people identify the type of terrain. Taiwan had started to shoot aerial photos since WWII, and these photos described how people lived that time. Time flew as technology improved, the aerial camera has new abilities gradually. People nowadays even use aerial cameras on more subjects such as biology, cartography, surveillance, arts, entertainment and others.

2. Summary of Our Project

As a civil servant, Mr. Po-Lin Chi did not think he would succeed in his career. He didn’t learn in class about aerial photography, therefore producing a documentary in the aerial perspective was truly hard for him. What he only aimed for was to present Taiwan in a different perspective, and to let Taiwanese discover a new Taiwan they have never know of. Due to the documentary, he then won two Golden Horse Awards. We hope this project can bring people into the clouds, and together join the world of aerial photography.

3. Cyberfair Theme~ Understand & Unite

By interviewing with Director Chi and researching deeply in our topic, we understood and learned a lot about aerial photography. We hope to bring this newly developed photographic technique to the whole globe. Joining in to the global community of Cyberfair, we understand, we unite. As we deliver knowledge to people in the world, we expect to learn from them in return.

4. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home: 21-50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom: More than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom: dial-up modem

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet: More than 6

E. As the technology gets more developed, computer and the internet become indispensable. Based on that reason, our school provided us local optical network(100M) and school server. Most of our work are completed in club time. Also, we collected information and changed it into a report on Google docs. Google Docs helped us to discuss online and to edit it immediately.

5. Problems We Had To Overcome

This is our first time participating in Cyberfair and interviewing Director Chi. Sweats, setbacks, and laughter accompanied us through the whole process. We had encountered numerous difficulties, especially the camera, throughout the whole interview, but the ten of us managed to overcome them together. This is our very first interview so there’s a lot for us to learn, which can be quite challenging and frustrating, but the result definitely worth the pain. We also encountered some technical problems due to our inexperience leading to frequent mistakes. We really appreciate help and patience from all the teachers and Director Chi. We had learned how to interview as a news reporter, and learned to beautify the photo and film like a professional photographer. Moreover, we also learned how to be like a website engineer to build up a website that is full of our precious memories.

6. Our Project Soundbite

After this monographic research project, we have changed a lot. Our learning attitude has become more and more effective, and we learned the importance to cooperate with each other. In addition, we became willing to learn the skills we did not try before, such as writing a questionnaire. This project enhanced our writing, researching, and problem-solving skills, and we, as a team, tried hard to achieve the best result.

7. How did your activities and research for this International Schools CyberFair

Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

In this project, we learned how to interview, organize information, and cooperate with teammates. These skills closely related to our daily life, and we can use these skills anytime in our daily life. We also improved our communication skills when we were interviewing Director Chi. This project fits into our school's education system, students can learn how to do research and make questionnaires. Our school's teaching purpose is to let students learn by themselves by doing research, we practiced and improved it a lot in this project. The Internet lets us work more effectively, and we can discuss and edit information online immediately. We can find more information on the internet in a shorter time, and that factor make us work with more benefit.
