Changhua Shengwang Temple

History

Changhua Shengwang Temple is known as Weihui Temple. It is a national historic site, mainly for the worship of Tan Goan-kong, the Sacred Prince, Developer of Zhangzhou, and main deity worshiped by the people of Zhangzhou. In 1761, the temple was built near the west gate of the county and became a faith center for the residents of Zhangzhou. The historical wood and stone carvings make Shengwang Temple a building with unique characters. The Temple has the earliest Dragon column (1807) in Changhua Area, that is, the rare brick carving of beautiful Chiwen at the rooftop.
