It was so lucky for those butterflies in the Cuei-ping Butterfly Garden to have an outstanding team taking turn to look after them.

The following are the reliable assistants:

◎Nature-loving Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Deputy Executive Manager:

The CEO of the Cuei-ping Butterfly Garden was Ms. Pei-ru Lin, and the Deputy Executive Manager was Mr. Hong-yi Lin. They had to attend the ecological education training hosted by the Moxa Foundation for teachers, regularly maintain the garden as well as cultivate new lives, and conduct ecological education advocacy activities in school. As a result, they are definitely irreplaceable.

◎Well-cooperated partners:

Through the ecological education training given by the CEO and Deputy Executive Manager, many teachers felt the passion, hence started to devote their efforts to rearing butterflies and promote butterfly ecological education, letting ecological education be carried out in classes and leading the students to join together.

◎Full-hearted volunteers:

There were a few volunteers who were keen on butterfly ecological education. From the beginning, they gave assistance to establishing the garden, including gardening, weeding, and even pave the soil with lots of little stones to ensure the efficient drainage system. Furthermore, growing food plants and nectar source plants to provide butterflies with sufficient food is also included.

◎Good-caring teachers and students:

Students first listened to Mrs. Pei-ru Lin and Mr. Hong-yi Lin’s illustration to acquire the knowledge and skill of rearing butterflies so that they could have their own rearing boxes to rear butterflies afterward. Students had to replace leaves, clean excreta, record the growth process every day by themselves, and after those larvae turned into butterflies, they would free the butterflies in the garden.

◎Butterfly-loving little volunteers:

Some students were still enthusiastic about butterfly ecological education even after rearing butterflies. Consequently, they offered themselves to be little volunteers in the garden, helping arrange the environment, preparing food plants for other classmates rearing butterflies, and even participating in the guiding work.

◎Reflections from the Whispering of Butterflies team:

It turned out that the work of CEO and Deputy Executive Manager were so complicated and significant; no wonder they were often seen pruning flowers and trees in the garden. In addition, Mrs. Pei-ru Lin would visit every class to count up the number of students rearing butterflies so as to prepare leaves, while Mr. Hong-yi Lin, the butterfly savior, often saved the pupae dropping off. Teachers were fond of rearing butterflies as well, so they leaded us to rear and told us how to take care of them. With teachers and students joining together, we were indeed a huge family of butterfly caring. We treated those larvae as babies. When they were unhealthy, we would feel upset; when they became butterflies successfully, we would be so delighted. Butterfly-rearing was undoubtedly the most wonderful thing in our school life.
