The King of Socks--Chairman Ming Tsuen Hsiao

After the constant contact with Soxlink to confirm visiting time, our team arrived at Soxlink at last. Chairman of Soxlink, Mr. Hsiao, welcomed us with great pleasure, and took us directly to his meeting room. For being a busy man, he still took his leisure time to interview us. We were really honored and flattered!

Chairman Hsiao was a friendly and nice elder. In the conversation, he not only answered all of our questions, but also offered some information we didn’t know. The interview in a pleasant atmosphere had lasted for about two hours to accomplish. Although he was not proud of the success of the Soxlink tourism factory too much, we remained to see the glory of confidence shinning in his eyes, what we felt is the charming style of a successful enterpriser!

The Interview Questionnaire of Our Team

From the dense words of notes, you know how seriously and formally we took notes?

In the beginning, Chairman Hsiao mentioned that Soxlink was the first factory in Taiwan to combine MIT Museum with tourism factory.

Ms. Tsou also mentioned the rising of the tourism factory in recent years. Chairman Hsiao went on explaining that the there were three socks tourism factories in Taiwan. Except the one in the north part of Taiwan, another, LOHAS, was located in Shetou, and the other is Soxlink located in Tianjhong.

The history of Soxlink had lasted for more than fifty years. It was really the oldest sock weaving factory, so the government gave the name “The King of Socks” to Soxlink to stand for his longest history and highest position in hosiery. Soxlink tourism factory really deserved the fame!

Question 1:

Why did you set up Soxlink(The King of Socks)?


I still remember vividly. When being a primary school student, I washed my father's feet every night, and found that my father's feet were frostbitten in the cold weather, and scalded in the hot weather. For the sake of repairing the railway, his feet even bled sometimes! Therefore, I made up my mind to weave suitable socks for father when growing up. From then on, my father introduced me to some sock factories as an apprentice.

Question 2:

What is your business philosophy?


If you want to promote the value of your brand, the most important thing is to be honest, and constantly maintain the quality, which can attracts customers to come back someday. As to the name, Soxlink, was named by my daughter and son-in-law. It means "To link everything about socks!".

Question 3:

What is the inheritance or innovation significance of Soxlink to the traditional industries?


In my opinion, if traditional industries want to survive in the intense competition of the world market now, they have to do some changes, such as adding some health care elements to their products. Besides, only by the application of drug licenses or the Department of Health medical certifications can they get more opportunities to receive orders from international brands. By the way, to distinguish the characteristics of Taiwan industries from Mainland China is necessary!

Question 4:

What is the impact of the establishment of Soxlink to the development of Tianjhong township?


The most important of all is that Soxlink tourism factory has become a famous sightseeing spot in Tianjhong, especially online. It can attract numerous tourists here to stimulate the economic growth of Tianjhong. In addition, it also advertise high quality socks in Tianjhong.

Question 5:

What are the product categories of Soxlink?


In addition to socks, the products of  Soxlink are various, including polo shirts, scarves, gloves, knee pads, waist pads, elbow pads, etc. Take the sports brand ASICS for example, all its products are made by Soxlink. Soxlink also sold products for elders and women.

Question 6:

What is the characteristics of Soxlink products?


Our products mainly aim at additional health care functions, such as products made of silver ions or silver fibers. Even if you have worn them for a week, they will not be stinky. Their bactericidal ability is about 99.9%! The specialties of medical and technology are the main differences to other companies.

In the end of the interview, for the sake of building the website of our project, Mr. Yang asked Chairman Hsiao to fully authorize our team to use the information of Soxlink official website and DM for free, and Chairman Hsiao is also pleasantly agreed.
