About the Exhibition

About the Exhibition

We Thunder King of Drums made the posters about a series of activities related to U-Theatre using the 8-section glass exhibition board in the school to familiarize the students with U-Theatre. We members cooperated closely and brimmed with the enthusiasm to share throughout the process, from the initial discussion and planning, the measurement of the exhibition area, the design of contents, color printing and pasting all the way to completion. During each break, the exhibition area would be crowded with the students who came to appreciate the posters. As we saw so many students reading the posters carefully and having heated discussion about our works, we felt more confident in promoting U-Theatre. We believed that this exhibition would help the students understand U-Theatre in greater width and depth.

We guided the students through the appreciation of the exhibition during each break. With the students’ active responses and questions, we tried even harder and did better and better in volume control and expression. When the students raised different kinds of questions, we would explain neither too fast nor too slow and give full play to our team cooperation and flexibility. Seeing the students listening attentively and responding actively, we felt that all our efforts paid off finally. By being closely united, the Thunder King of Drums contributed to the success of this promotion exhibition.

Feedback about the Exhibition

We specially designed the feedback and message board and pasted it in the small glass exhibition area among the 8 large pieces of glass. The students who had finished listening to the exhibition guide or reading the posters could leave their reflections or suggestions on the feedback board. We were incredibly gratified to see that the message board was full of colorful post-it notes, because the students’ joyful, encouraging and warm responses were exactly what motivated us to advance forward and explore unendingly.

The messages left on the feedback board were full of wishes and encouragement, which moved and gratified the members of Thunder King of Drums deeply. We accepted all of these, whether it be suggestion or encouragement, with humility. Meanwhile, we were grateful that they recognized our exhibition. Some students even said in their messages that our exhibition guide gave them a strong feeling as if they were just there personally. So, we were fully confident in unremittingly promoting the spirit of U-Theatre, the lineage of Chinese drum music as well as the idea of caring the vulnerable groups.

Reflections on the Exhibition

During this exhibition, we not only let the students watch the exhibition by themselves during the break, but also offered the exhibition guide in groups to help the students gain a better understanding. We felt inevitably nervous during the interpretation. However, we got more relaxed when we saw the students listening so attentively. It was the mission of our team to deepen people’s understanding of U-Theater using exhibitions. Besides, the active engagement in leaving feedback and messages made this exhibition very successful.

As the exhibition came to an end, I realized deeply the importance of effective division of labor and close cooperation. From the initial production of posters all the way to the presentation of the exhibition, the team members played different roles and fulfilled their duties more efficiently. In the process, the members might have different opinions from time to time, but we managed to resolve all the disagreements through several rounds of discussion and just learned from the setbacks. The reason was that we all wanted to present the best exhibition and we could see the significance of “pooling the wisdom and efforts of everyone” and “being united will make us stronger”.
