A、The meaning
Making the thread-bound Book is a skill of booking in the old days.

B、Originality

(Source: from the Taiwan Library)
In the age of Yin Sun, people used to use the bones and the shells of the animals as the materials of booking. They wrote or carve pictures or simple words on the material.「Oracl Script」was also called「Chi Wen」,which was one of the words of document of the age.

Speaking of the Oracle Script, under the right side of the shell, we could find the numbers,(Cher Six, Liun Six or Shi Six)of the sehll in order to maintain the order of the books of shells. In the center of the shell, there was a hole ,the soft leather was used to put through the shell with other ones. In fact, the function of puting the soft leather into through the hole of the shell was just that smae with the Thead Bound Book skill in the modern age.

In the Spring and Autumn(770-476 BC) and Warring States(475-221 BC)Period, it was in a vogue of booking with bamboo. People used the bamboo to be the materials of writing. When they finished one piece of bamboo, they would dig wholes and put all the bamboos together with silk ,soft leather, or hemp. That is, the book of bamboos could be very long. However, this was the originality of the modern booking skills.

In the Sui Ton Dynasties, there was great invention of booking skills-the invention of papers which influenced seriously the booking methods of the Chinese books. At the same time, there were also other methods of booking appeared, such as the Rooling Book and the Leaves Book , which replaced the Bamboo Book.So Far, all the booking methods were all Thread Bound Book types, which connected the pages with various of threads.

In the Son Dynasty, due to the unconvinence of rooling booking method and the sawing method, both of the methods of booking disapppeared not long after. Instead, the Leave Booking method rose sharply with the Butterfly Dressing style.

In the Ming Dynasty, the Thread Bound Book method appeared again and replaced all the booking methods in China.

C、Thread Bound Booking
(From the Taiwan Library)
There were several methods of the thread bounding:

a、 Son Style Booking Method
The method was called Four nail Holes Method or Four Nail Holes Booing Method, which was simple and popular.
The method of measurement was to ensure the four holes of the eyes on the book. Firat, the size of the book had to be measured to find the Skyp Hole and Earth Hole. Secondly, the distance between the Sky and Ground Holes would be divided into three equal parts. However, the distance of the Sky Anf Ground Holes would be adjusted according to the size of the book.
b、 Ton Style Booking Method
This method was usually used in the books which were longer in the size of the books. The distance of the second and the third hole were closer than other booking method.
c、 Zen Gau Shi Mu Booking Method
Different from the Son Style Booking, one more nail was booked beside the Sky and the Ground holes, called Hard Corner Four Eyes Booking method. Besides, there were also Six Eyes Booking method or Eightr Eyes Booking method. Such kind of booking method was used popularly in the Qin Dynasty for it could be stronger for the books to use for a long time. It was suitable for the books of big size.

Every piece of hemp had three eye holes. The method of booking was established according to the Kon Shi Method of booking and was suitable for the books of biger size.

After we got into the association, we were guided and by the experienced

The trip to the association was too short to enjoy the site carefully. However, by the detail narrating of Miss Huang, all the members of the team got much precious knowledge about the association.
Liau Jia Tian:
As we reached the gate of the association, Miss Li had waited for us for long.  Under the order of the teacher, we took some group pictures; and then, he asked us to keep quiet as possible as we could.  Our mission was to appreciate the sculpture carefully and bring up questions.  In the right side of the dinning room, we saw the great work of penmanship.  .  It was our last time for interview.  It was not an ending, but another new beginning.
Zou Yi Uian:
Miss Li and Mr. Li bing-gui told us the history of the master and the penmanship works of the Mr. Nian.  We saw many delicate and vivid works in the association and it was a eye-opening trip.  Miss Li led us all the way to see more things about the history of the Gu family and the association.  Mr. Li talked much about the sculpture works done by his father in the association.  This my first time to visit this association and I hoped I could visit here soon again.
Wu Chen Ru:
As soon as we reached the gate of the association, Miss Li had waited for us for long.  At first, the work that Mr. Li showed us was the butterfly orchid, which was as vivid as life.  He said that the work was bought by one of the members of the association before being displayed.  In the right side of the room, we saw the penmanship work of the master.  They were placed in both sides of the hall and the shapes of the works were all trapezoids.  It was an eye-opening trip for me and I really learned a lot.
