Sharing of Burdock Cooking

We went to the Gueilai Burdock field to participate in this year's Burdock harvest. This day, Mr. Shu generously let us bring back the harvest Burdock. Taking advantage of this rare opportunity, our teacher asked everyone to cook the fresh Burdock together with the family and made delicious Gueilai dishes.

A、Chen Haofeng:

Mrs. Chen said:”My child came back with the burdock I had never cooked. It let me a little dumbfounded. But he carefully taught me how to cook the burdock. ”While I drank Burdock soup with corn meat having ginseng aroma, it warmed up my stomach. I did not expect that a simple cooking could let us enjoy such delicious food. Burdock, what is so-called one of three treasures of Gueilai is worthy of a try!

This time we came to the Gueilai Burdock field and learned how to dig Burdock. First, we should loosen the surrounding soil, and then used a spade to dig up the clods. I saw Mr. Shu dug up Burdock easily and fast. When it was my turn, I found that digging Burdock was really hard! At that time, my spade seemed to be heavy. I thought digging Burdock was really not easy!

B、Chen Minjie:

I think the boiled Burdock ribs soup made by Burdock I brought home was very good to drink.
Burdock was cooked well. It was very tasty and crisp. Ribs cooked with Burdock were also very soft and really tasty! If the flavor of Burdock could be stronger, it would be more tasty. I hope I could drink more delicious Burdock soup in the next time!

I thank Mr. Shu for inviting us to participate in Burdock harvest and teaching us how to dig up Burdock. Mr. Shu dug up Burdock skillfully. He could dig up one Burdock after another.
But in fact, he had to spend much strength in order to pull the Burdock from the soil one after another. While I saw that Mr. Shu breathed urgently after digging up Burdock, I knew that to be a Burdock farmer is not an easy job!

C、Hong Chenyu:

After fried, Burdock with sugar sweet and sesame aroma was a crispy and tasty snack.

At that time, my spade seemed to be heavy. I thought digging Burdock was really not easy!
Mr. Shu was skillful. During a short time, he pulled out more than five Burdocks! He was a very experienced farmer. I found that growth rate of Burdock was amazing. The Burdock leaves that Mr. Shu cut down were big enough to cover the sun! The Burdock looked like fairy beauty legs, and they were really beautiful.

D、Lin Hongjun:

Homemade Burdock soup tasted like a little ginseng flavor. It was crisp and very delicious. The taste of Burdock soup cooked with little ribs was very fragrant, and I was eager to eat it.
Our teacher said: “Gueilai Burdock will be harvested in March and April.” At that time, we can have tasty Gueilai Burdock.

E、Chen Peiru:

The Burdock I took home was slender and long. My grandmother sliced the Burdock and fried it with mushrooms and ginger. It tasted hard, but I still could smell a special taste of Burdock. The next time, I would remember to cut Burdock into silk to taste better.

Mr. Shu was very kind to give us a Burdock to cook. On the same day, on my way riding from the school to home, I also encountered that he was cleaning just harvested Burdock outside his home. Mr. Shu stopped me and gave me a thick Burdock to take home. I was really thankful to the enthusiasm of Mr. Shu!

F、Tang Yunrong:

A seed ~ a Burdock ~ a pot of Burdock wolfberry chicken soup. From the beginning to the end, I was deeply touched! Mrs. Tang said: “Because of the participation of Tang Yunrong, I saw her efforts and growth. I also felt the real vitality of Gueilai Burdock. This research activity also increased the interaction between parents and my children.” Until each child can have in-depth understanding and personal experience, Gueilai Burdock can be inherited down. This activities will be able to become a major feature of Gueilai elementary school. The classroom of nature is paradise of children!

About this harvest, I must thank Mr. Shu first. Without his taking care of Burdock, Burdock would not grow well. I also must thank him for teaching me a lot of knowledge, such as the process of growth, the origin of history and so on. I always return home with all the important knowledge.
I hope all Burdock farmers have a good harvest every year!


1. The review and thoughts of project learning by Chen Minjie

Due to participating in the project activity, I found many secrets of burdock. I experienced the true feelings of being a reporter. I did not expect that journalists actually did so many things. From the investigation of information, making an appointment time, interviewing Gueilai Burdock experts to organizing my information after the end of the interview, they were new to me! Although I was busy, I learned a lot during these days!

In this activity, I had the opportunity to try to do many things that I had never experienced before, such as writing scripts of films, interviews, video dubbing, video editing and so on. In the English version of the video dubbing, I met a lot of special words. In the Mr. Shu's Burdock field, I learned how to sow and how to distinguish between good and bad Burdock seedlings. Every time I came to the Burdock field, I could learn a lot of new knowledge about Burdock!

During project research, I was not only involved in the process of Burdock cultivation but also learned many big discoveries and little secrets about Burdock during the interview of Burdock experts. When we visit uncle Chen's Burdock field of the greenhouse, he kindly introduced us about Burdock planting and farming machines, such as seed belts machine, tillage machine and so on.
He generously shared his precious experiences about Burdock farming! Every time we met him, we had a great harvest in any way!

2. The review and thoughts of project learning by Hong Chenyu

In this activity, I learn the Burdock varieties (white and Yanagawa ideal) , how helpful Burdock is for us and how Burdock products are made. In this project, it was my first time that I made notes so seriously that my fingers get acid. After these interviews, I found that farmers could give us more information than that we could search from the Internet. Some answers are more reliable. Once you have any question, just ask the experts. Asking the experts is your best choice.

Due to participating in this project, I got close to nature once again. Instead of doing the same meaningless things every week, my life became colorful during this time. I did not feel bored anymore. Although there were a lot of reports to make, I felt like flying for a moment on stepping on the ice and cold soil of the Burdock field.

I remembered that the first time when we came to burdock field, Mr. Shu showed us a bowl of Burdock seeds that were less than 6mm. I was very surprised that small Burdock seeds could grow up so fast and high. I was envious of Burdock! Burdock pulled up including the leaves were higher than me. I think I must eat more to catch up!

3. The review and thoughts of project learning by Chen Haofeng

From this project research activities, I learned how to interview others. I didn't know how to interview someone until I took part in this project research activity. Now I learned how to interview others, and I became more courageous! There were two necessary processes for participating in the project. That is, interviewing someone and being interviewed by someone were necessary. I was very nervous when I was interviewed for the first time. However, it ended pretty well. I remembered that before I was interviewed by my classmates, I drank some Burdock soup. Beyond what I expected, it was delicious and tasted like Taiwanese ginseng.

In the activity, I also had the opportunity to try to dig Burdock for my first time. Mr. Shu could dig Burdock fast and easily. When it was my turn to dig Burdock, I was slow and tired. I still played tug of war with the Burdock for a long time. Because of the last time delicious Burdock soup, I had a little favor on the Burdock. I tried to smell Burdock just dug out from the soil, but it was too special to like it.

To participate in this project, I learned a lot about Burdock. When watering the Burdock, you can only sprinkle it with sprinklers. Because it favors low temperature and less water to grow, too much water will result in hurt. If you want to plant Burdock by organic planting method, you will need many tools to catch insects. Because you can not spray pesticides, there will a lot of pests. You will need a lot of tools for catching insects.

4. The review and thoughts of project learning by Tang Yunrong

To participate in this project, I did a lot of things such as the cultivation of Burdock in the field, to help harvest Burdock and making a lot of reports. Now I was familiar with the growth process of Burdock. In the first day, small Burdock seeds were planted. After a dozen days, green buds emerged out. After a few months later, Burdock had grown up to become tall and straight! Finally, it was harvest time. I was very happy to see that Burdock finally grew up!

Recently, I wrote such many articles that I could write better! My writing skills became better. Because of participating in this project, my typing was not only faster but also more correct! Not only do I understand the origin of Burdock and the type of variety but also know a lot of details about the Burdock. Now, I could tell you the knowledge and history development of Burdock! If there is a chance next time, I will certainly participate in this meaningful activities again!

During this project, I was impressed by the Mr. Hsu, a friendly man who always kept smiling, and Mr. Chen, who was humorous and insisted in planting organic Burdock. The most unforgotten thing was that I and my teammates harvested Burdock at Mr. Hsu's Burdock field. It was full of joy and excitement when we pulled out the Burdock from the ground.

5. The review and thoughts of project learning by Chen Shangruu

To participate in this project, I learned to face the things that were new to me. This time, when I encountered problems, I often asked my partner or teachers to help me to solve the problem. Although I had ever picked yam beans with my grandmother before, but I wore shoes at that time. This time, I was barefoot. On stepping on the Burdock field, I felt it very soft and very comfortable. How unforgettable it was! I also had a lot of opportunities to speak with people who I did not know. Although I was very nervous at the beginning, but after a long time, I got used to it. I learned that whenever I asked someone questions, I had to calm down first and then started to ask.

Due to participating in the project activities, I understood the process of Burdock growth. Through sowing and fertilization, Burdock gradually grew up under careful care. How long could Burdock grow? I saw the Burdock could grow to two meters long. Although I needed to make a lot of reports, I typed much faster after this training. Although there were tasks and challenges to be completed during the process of this research, we had some snacks to eat after hard working.

I remember that day we sowed in the Mr. Shu's Burdock field. When I casually grabbed soil, I was shocked that I found a drilling earthworm! However, I learned that they were good partners of farmers. I was impressed by the first time that I was barefoot on the soft soil, just like on the water. During this project research activity, we made three times visit around the whole Gueilai. Taking advantage of this opportunity, I visited many places and also saw a lot of painted walls.

6. The review and thoughts of project learning by Lin Hongjun

I would not be curious about Burdock and would not want to see it before. My participation in this project not only increased my knowledge but also allowed me to experience personally. After this project, I had a further understanding of Burdock.

To participate in this project, let me know more about Burdock, and realized how hard Gueilai's farmers were and how sweet harvest was. I tried a lot of things, such as being barefoot in the field, to explore the history and questions of Burdock. I experienced different pleasures and discovered the mystery of Burdock. I also knew how hardworking Burdock farmers must be.

The first poster was to present the comics of three treasures of Gueilai, the Burdock history of Gueilai, the origin of Burdock name and the efficacy of Burdock. The second poster was to present the important findings of our project.

In the information section of middle and high grade, we share the content of the website.

They were very interested in the comic introductions of the Gueilai TAP Burdock and organic Burdock tea. This time we used the camera and photoscape to introduce Burdock products. We designed dialogue scripts and made the comic presentations. Our contents were attractive and had good advertising effects.

Our activity:

Activity Theme: Artificial Harvest in the Gueilai Burdock Field

Our activity:
We were very happy to dig Burdock! Burdock looked as tall as me. It could be said to be a little giant! Mr. Shu took a round shovel to dig the soil and taught us how to dig.
When he saw the dug up Burdock, he was happy because it was very long and slender. After it grew up, it must be very thick, very long and also the best! The dug out Burdock with the golden yellow skin made me drool!
