Q1:Mr. Chang, why did you take over Shinhochun Soy Sauce? |
A:I am the eldest of the children in my family. According to the Chinese tradition, the eldest one will take over the family business. Therefore, when my parents get older, in order to avoid the economic burden of our family, I give up my own dream and go home to take over Shinhochun Soy Sauce. |
Q2:Mr. Chang, what difficulties did you encountered when you took over Shinhochun Soy Sauce? |
A:There are some difficulties: the brand is not popular enough and marketing cannot be done. Therefore, at the beginning of taking over “Shinhochun”, I encountered the problems of market outlet and distribution channel. We try to make consumers to distinguish the difference between the traditional hand-made brewing soy sauce and chemical soy sauce. Meanwhile, the food safety storm emerges one after another in recent years; consumers gradually pay more attention to food safety. |
Q3:Mr. Chang, would you ever like to give up the job of soy sauce? |
A:Yes, at the beginning of taking over “Shinhochun”, I encountered the channel problem and would like to give up. However, depending on my persistence in quality and the recognition of the local villagers, I gradually establish the public praise of the product through the self-built network marketing and the relevant media interview and reporting, which makes me feel proud. |
Q4:Mr. Chang, why is this soy sauce factory named as “Shinhochun”? |
A:In Taiwanese, the homophony of “Shin” “ho” “chun” is “ladling” “and” “suplus”, with the meaning that there is surplus soy sauce in each jar. Therefore, it is called “Shinhochun”. |
Q5:Mr. Chang, what’s your opinion on the recent “food safety storm”? |
A:The government is unable to manage it comprehensively and it depends on the manufacturers’ conscience. After the food safety storm, more and more people choose to buy the traditional hand-made brewing soy sauce. They also begin to further understand soy sauce: the hand-made brewing soy sauce requires longer time in making, but no chemical substances are added. Such soy sauce is good for health and there is no harm to human body. Therefore, more and more consumers are willing to spend more money to buy the better soy sauce. |
Q6:Mr. Chang, how many years has “Shinhochun” been established? |
A:This soy sauce factory was passed down from my grandfather in 1916 in Japanese occupation to my father for operation. Till this year, it is just 100 years. You are very lucky that you can visit this factory at the time of 100 years old. |
Q7:Mr. Chang, will your son continue to engage in the job of soy sauce? |
A:Yes, he will. You see my son has come back for help, and I will pass the job down. |
