Stray dogs on the county road no.139

County road no.139 surrounds the BAGUA Mountain, and also is the road that connects Nantou with Chang Hua, the view on the county road is beautiful and broad, which attract many bikers and bicycle riders during the weekend for their break, as it is away and secluded from cities, we can see many stray dogs living on this road. At first glance, people would think that these dogs are causing the road several problems, such as environmental cleanliness and traveler’s safety. However, if we were to look further, the fact is that they were caused by owner’s abandonment, breeding company’s abandonment as well as being lost. Without human care and living wild on the road, naturally it becomes both an environmental hazard and a safety problem to drivers. Most of these dogs had owners, but with the mindset these owners had, and once responsibility kicks in, they abandon these dogs intentionally, causing an increment on the numbers of stray dogs on the road. Their fate is usually doomed, they have to face hunger, diseases, harsh environment, human torture, and being hit by passing cars, or being captured sent to shelters to be euthanized. Therefore, correcting people’s thoughts and building the right concepts are extremely important.
