Motive

We were born and raised in Chang Hua, and our school is located on county road no.139, the view is beautiful, but filled with stray dogs, students from our class were bitten by them before, and from reading newspapers and watching the news, we were informed that these stray dogs often causes car accidents and they tend to have a negative effect on the beauty of the environment. We were very emotional towards these issues as these problems are located where we live, we face them every day, and that we should know more about these stray dogs, their life and related information. Therefore we decided to start our research of international cyberfair.

As our school is located in such environment, we face stray dogs on a daily basis, by chance, many of our teachers are dog lovers, and were wondering whether we should be involved in the competition of the research, and use ‘stray dogs’ as our title, as well as learning more about stray dogs during this competition, at the same time, through internet, we could share our result, and let more people know about stray dogs. I think this is very important because these dogs aren’t homeless by nature, they were caused by humans abandoning them.

We will use stray dogs from county road no.139 as the core, besides from being involved with the animal shelters’ observed data on stray dogs’ activities to acquire more related information about stray dogs, we will also collaborate stray dogs with our classes at school, using the opportunity of outdoor activities, we get to understand more about our local stray dogs overpopulation problem. By arranging stray dogs' visits outside of class and during winter holidays at the animal shelters as well as association of NCUE, these events will aid our understanding towards stray dogs more thoroughly. We hope that we could change the public’s negative view on stray dogs, and to promote more adoption less abandonment as well as the concept of birth control of stray dogs.

In this research, we started from learning a dog’s feature, specie and its body language. The more we know about dogs, the less likely we will misunderstand them. In order to promote the concept of more adoption and less abandonment, we adopted a stray dog to be our school dog, which enabled us to interact with stray dogs more closely, with the further use of resources from animal shelters and university, we hope to encourage these knowledge and information from this research, to be seen by the public, and for the public to rethink about stray dogs.
