★Transcripts
The interview visits were fun, and the writing of personal reflections were manageable, too. However, when it came to typing the transcripts from those interview visits, it seemed like an endless nightmare.
At first, I thought typing the transcripts would be easy since the teacher said, "Just type whatever you hear." Unfortunately, our transcripts were rejected by our teacher many times. We then realized we had totally misunderstood what our teacher meant by "Just type whatever you hear." We thought it meant typing down what we thought we had heard, so the transcripts lacked detail because we had ignored the parts that we considered unimportant. There were missing parts all over the place, which made it difficult for our teacher to help us.
Although typing these transcripts from our interview with Mr. Jui-Wen Chen was not an easy task, I learned a lot during this process. For example, I learned why the JW Eco-Technology is not widely incorporated into road pavements in Taiwan. Furthermore, I became more familiar with Mr. Chen's background and how the invention of the JW Eco-Technology came about. As I worked on the transcripts, I gained further understanding of the content of our research for the competition. Transcribing is an excellent way to learn and become more knowledgeable about a topic.
