★Translation
After working on translating my work into English for nearly two weeks, I finally finished translating my own personal reflection. Personally, I think it is more difficult to translate my personal reflection into English than it is to write it in Chinese.
Although we only needed to translate our work in Chinese into English and not have to add new content, it was still very challenging because we could not rely completely on online translation tools such as Google Translate due to its downfalls. First, Google Translate translates the passage word by word; therefore, its translation does not consider the grammar and context of the original content, resulting in inaccurate translations. In addition, Google Translate is a machine; thus, it cannot detect the emotion embedded within the words and sentences of the original content. As a result, the translation is often dull and lacks emotion. At first, we thought it would be an easy task to translate using the Google Translate, but the teachers always caught the mistakes the Google Translate made, and we ended up having to redo the work many times. Translating was certainly a time-consuming process!
