Our teacher, Mei-Zhen, said it was such a coincidence that one day the Environmental Protection Bureau in Taipei County recruited some volunteers for the constructed wetland in Da-Han Creek. Out of curiosity, she and her good friends joined the volunteer team ever since.
She sat on the electric motor car on March 5, 2010. This is the first time she was under “Hua-Chiang” bridge to explain “Hin-Hai Bridge Phase I Constructed Wetland” to the visitors, hoping that they can understand the importance that the constructed wetland does for the treatment of the domestic sewage. Da-Han Creek rolls forward and flows slowly day and night. Through learning to nature step by step, everyone including parent-child groups, visitors, students, professors and me benefited a lot. Actually, wetland is like a dictionary and you will gain a lot as long as you are willing to explore it.
By visiting Qing-Shui Wetland accompanied by Ms. Cheng, we have learned a lot regarding the rich ecology that Qing-Shui Wetland owns. There is not only water, birds in wetland, but also many varieties of aquatic lives in the Wetland. In fact, every plant has plankton and microorganism cling to its surface for the purpose of the survival. Moreover, we also carefully scooped up some plankton and watched them without doing any harm to them. Although the wetland seems insignificant, it is like the kidney of the Earth. Its function is to purify the water. It is the plant of algae that offers oxygen to the aquatic animals. After our teacher’s careful explanation, we realized the characteristics of the animals and plants around the surrounding regions of the wetland, which can serve as farming as well as a habitat for the migratory birds. Knowing the importance of the wetland to the whole world, we have learned an important lesson, which is the closest to nature.
