Woodcarving Technique
The so-called
"technique" refers to the way of processing in terms of
form and space by a creator and is mainly reflected in a
reduced sense of carving and engraving. From the outside
to the inside, scrap material is removed step by step.
And the shape and structure come into being. The main
techniques are listed as follows: |
Intaglio
Also known as
diaglyph or line engraving, intaglio is a technique in art
in which an image or a character is created by cutting,
carving or engraving into a flat surface. |
|
Relief
Relief, or relievo
rilievo, is a sculptural technique which gives the
impression that the sculpted material has been raised above
the background plane with raised and three-dimensional
effects. |
|
Circular
engravure
Also known as three-dimensional
carving, it is a fully three-dimensional sculptural
technique. The front, rear, left, and right sides should be
carved with concrete forms. The common content includes
people, animals, and plants, while the main topic is
auspiciousness. The works are mainly for appreciation. |
|
Openwork
Openwork, or hollow
carving, is a sculptural technique which removes the parts
except the part of patterns. This technique presents the
beauty of being dainty and exquisite and the overall form of
a decorative structure, suitable for appreciation from both
sides. |
|
Inner branch and
outer leaf technique
This technique integrates the essentials and strengths of
the above techniques and painting to present art forms in a
multi-level and three-dimensional manner. It is the most
wonderful and gorgeous technique.
