Taiwan School Cyberfair 2015 - Research Motivation Across Seas 60 Years, Dachen People in Yonghe Teacher explained the eight categories of competition in the discussion and asked us to propose the subject. Classmates were active, someone proposed subject like “Old Repairing New Touching”, “Wind Chaser - Jun Jie Wu” and some more. However, the category we were participated in these two years are all “Local Leader”, so Jie-Chang Li brought up an idea to do subject of “Eating All Yonghe Delicious Food” like a Super Taste Show. After a poll, the subject is accepted, but there are so many delicious food in Yonghe, how do we take them and make the research? Someone said that we can make a subject as “All Collection of Le Hua Night Market”, but other classmates said the night market food are just plan and lacked of features. Chi Wei mentioned a famous “Chou’s Year Cake” near our school where Dachen people always buy from it. After searching on internet, we have known that there were not just “Chou’s Year Cake”, but also a famous Jiangze Food Restaurant the Da Chen food restaurant but also a Yonghe famous Jiangsu Zhejiang Food restaurant own by Xiao-e Jiang who also came from Dachen. Qi-wei is also a descendant of Dachen, she was very excited about other than
Dachen food, there were also brilliant needlework shop own by a pair of Dachen sisters -- recommended by her grandmother.

We did know there was a “Wuhe New Village” near our school with Dachen descendants living around, but we did not know there were also hidden talented Dachen people. It made Yonghe local people -- like us -- feeling like to understand Dachen culture belonging this land.

This year is the 60-year anniversary of retreating from Dachen Island. Therefore, we decided to use “Dachen” as the subject for Cyberfair this year. We hope through the subject “Dachen People in Yonghe” to let more people in Taiwan or around world know “Wuhe New Village” -- the old neighborhood and Dachen culture, traditional food, handcrafts and Dachen life in Yonghe.
