The Meaningful Juming Museum

The Living World Series focus on human conditions with Ju Ming’s sensitive observation and experiment different materials in different phases. All the works are vivid and with a profound meaning.

1、Living World Series--Collages
　　　　　　　　　
A magnificent visional effect occurred through collage works by Ju Ming, they are gossip neighborhood, aboriginal people in colorful traditional dress and monks with compassion. At the side of the collage of Buddha, Ju Ming wrote on his own: “ The hell is in living world, in living world there is heaven either, where are you going? It depends on what you think.” Those words reveal the point of living world.

In 1996, Ju Ming picked the president election posters and banners as the subject matters, the memory of election come to our sight again. The picture of yelling and wagging banners came along with the fighting for democracy, also for reputation and political power. The faded election materials were rose from the ashes by Ju Ming and became the evidence of the election in Taiwan to remain a route for that era nevertheless an irony to tell people that even though the it is full of competition in the living world, you might scramble and win coincidently but never being an eternity champion. Ju Ming used the way of artist to present human condition, neither preach nor judge but leaves an unlimited clue and knowing smile to the audience.

2、Living World Series--Parachute
　　　　　　　　　
Living World Series-Parachute has been displayed in Dundalk modern art museum of France 1991. The parachute frames are structure of stainless steels, it was a complicated process to make the steels bearing the canopy and connected to the jumper but Ju Ming overcame the difficulty and creatively sculpted the elegant stainless steel features, the double layers of canopy looks like real and could be unfolded automatically. The canopies were made of stainless steel and bronze, the silver glossiness is bright and dazzling under blue sky. The jumpers are made of bronze by sponge mold and with color painted which entirely shows the delight and confidence of jumpers.

There are different gestures of jumpers, some are landed with a single foot or some are still in the air and look animatedly. Ju Ming left an unlimited imagination for us to experience a brilliant sports show in our mind.

The sports-subject-artworks is also belong to Living World Series, Ju Ming took advantage of some gestures to release the energy of the sportsman and displayed the feature of active power, speed o young blood. The sportsmen are practicing backward roll or hurdles race, some are doing monkey bars or standing on hand, additionally some are attending high jump or out-road biking. Each of them are frisk with their interesting bodies made of sponge bundles, the shape are fluffy rather than robust and vigorous as the real sportsman but appears a grace of cleverness and rhythm.

Hardly to connect the puffy and soft sponge with the robust sportsman but Ju Ming thought in different way and challenge the use of material to have the artworks on the subject of sports won a reputation of creativity.

4、Artworks made by stainless steel
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　
Compare to the softness of sponge, the use of hardness and coldness of stainless steel is much more difficult. With the help of Mr. Liang Chin-fu who really own expertise in machinery, Ju Ming overcame the problem, he requested Mr. Liang to design and produce a machine which could make the gesture of twisting, bundling and tying. The hard and cold stainless steel became funny, humorous and philosophical statues of living world through the amazing tool. The gesture of contemplator, embraced father and son, sitting on chair with crossed legs and the lovers, each of them are gorgeous and carving with a character of living world in city but not like the country style of round and simple works in bronze with sponge mold .

There are some bronze sculptures of Living World Series in Performance Area, people think their color are faded. Actually it is another challenge of material about creation of bronze, the grey appearance is not as shiny and stainless steel but worthy for delicate tasting. They are seems to be the symbol of the profound people who always avoid too bothering to others.

5、Living World Series--Painted Wood
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　
From “Taichi” to “Living World”, Ju Ming transformed and innovated and aroused the discussion in art circle. Some people thought he imitated western technique to color the wood, but some explained for him that there were also painted wood in traditional craft history. The living world and human comedy into Ju Ming’s artworks in decades meanwhile the Living World Series developed into thousands of gestures and stand around to reflect the reality.

6、Armed Forces Series
　　　　　　　　　
In 2005 Ju Ming presented “Armed Forces Series” to the public, more than 300 life-size military sculptures, to commemorate the battles of the wars and as a tribute to the modern land, navy and air force. In addition to the performance of sculpture, the series also contain the element of performance, conceptual and installation art to display the creation process and spirit which organized by Ju Ming himself and that really means a greatest achievement for an artist. Ju Ming often thought at that time, if he missed that moment, in the future he may never have the chance to complete it therefore he saw the Living World Series—Armed Forces is the unprecedented and never to be “the grandest Series production” and “ the greatest theatre”. The Armed Forces Series proceed the mission of Living World Series to record human comedy, Ju Ming has said “ I tried to finish one piece everyday. This work is a tremendous challenge for me in the aspects of time, energy and budget.”

7、Living World Series--Scientist
　　　　　　　　　
From 2007, the Living World Series turned into next stage, the colorful world was transferred to be white. Ju Ming expressed “ I will paint white merely onto my sculpture…, it is a progression.” The experiment of white, beyond the colored and decorated expression tells us the situation of the work and what the work is to declare the creation of Ju Ming moved forward to be purified as well as aspiring for the vocabulary of material essentially.

8、Mother’s Memorial Stone
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　
It is often happened in Ju Ming’s artworks that talked about Mother and son, the Mother’s memorial stone is for missing mother who passed away of Ju Ming as well the best expression in Living World Series that discussed relationship between parents and children. The children those playing or sleeping around mother were Ju Ming and his siblings.
