Reflections

Afterthoughts: I think this club has taught me what guavas have contributed to the health of the people. Growing guavas are not easy, as I see my grandpa going to the guava farm every morning. I’ve never been to there before, yet I know it takes labor and patience to grow guavas properly. My grandpa has to spray pesticides and irrigate the trees regularly. I don’t think I can do that work as well as my grandpa does, and I admire my grandpa for that.

Afterthoughts: Ever since I took part in the club, I’ve found every meeting has a goal, and each time when we achieve a goal, we feel so fulfilled. I am highly curious since very young, and are inclined to find the answer to a question. I remember interviewing a peasant who said “I dreamed about taking a job that is free-style since graduating from vocational school, and I love to grow vegetables and fruit too.” In his backyard, I saw many adorable animals and thought of that renowned farmer poet Tao Yuan-ming. Another peasant remarked that he hoped the guavas of Xizhou can have a better development in the future. Through the experience of interviewing, I found each peasant has his own ideas about and anticipation for guava cultivation, yet all of them wish prosperity for the hometown. I feel I am lucky with this chance to do the project, and hope that I can attend the Cyberfair project next time.

Afterthoughts: I’ve taken part in the activity since this summer, and I’ve found we have a new goal for each meeting. I’ve also learned a lot from this activity. For example, I know that guava cultivation is something laborious that requires patience. The farmers have met many problems, which they have to think of solutions to resolve. My parents are all guava farmers, and I know they have done a difficult work to support our family, for which I am very grateful. I’m very glad to join this project, and hope I can have a second chance in this project in the future.

Since this summer, we have been engaged in the Cyberfair Project, and have got a lot of fun in the process. In the very beginning, I am not so keen on the project. Over time I take an interest to guava plantation, and have known by doing interviews with farmers that guava cultivation requires skills. The farmers have to spray pesticides during the process of cultivation. Although they would do this with masks, pesticides would do harm to their health more or less. When it is humid and scorching hot, they still have to do their work, which does not always pay off because the price undergoes fluctuations all the time.

Guava is a kind of fruit that is rich in nutrients, and there are many kinds of guava for consumers to choose. Some are softer, while others taste hard and crisp. I did not like guavas before, yet the interviewees would treat us with guavas and I have come to love guavas as a result.

Afterthoughts: Since I have become a member of the Cyberfair Project Club, I have come to know more about guavas while becoming familiar with Webpage production. I feel so glad and happy to be a member of the club, because we represent the school to attend the contest. The teachers are so kind in helping us. Even though there are many difficulties and failures along the way, I feel a strong sense of fulfilment when overcoming difficulties. I also learn a lot about cooperative power and teamwork spirit; without cooperation, we would not have gone such a long way in this project. We, as a team, have become stronger and more vigorous, and have made progress and achieved our ultimate goal in the end. I think it’s worth the effort because we have happily reaped a harvest.

Afterthoughts: I’ve been helping my parents in the guava farm since I was a little child, but I knew very little about guava plantation. It was not until joining the Cyberfair project that I began to acquire knowledge about guava, such as the process of growing and selling, and marketing strategies as well. Now I represent our school to strive for the award in the Cyberfair project contest, and I feel so proud of it. This is a rare opportunity for me, and I would do my best no matter what difficulties I have met. As the old saying goes that “Failure teaches success,” I believe that as long as one is determined and dedicated, any difficulties and challenges can be solved in the end.

I’ve learned a lot from this activity, such as teamwork. I know how to introduce my hometown and give interviews with the hardworking farmers. Every teammate works hard in order to attain the goals of this project, and I find myself learning very much from this experience. I realize the value of cooperation and know more about my hometown.
All mates have worked hard to collect information and do interviews before compiling them into neatly arranged data. I find taking part in this club very meaningful and interesting.

Everybody in the team works hard. And we find this hardworking worthwhile when we have finished the work.
