Lesson III

After visiting the CRH, we invited the master of narration - Mr. Ma to give us lessons about narrating.

To be a good narrator is to prepare yourself ready first, and you will make it well.

【14:00-14:10】

Accessories for narrator

Mr. Ma said “Good tools are prerequisite to the successful execution of a job.” A qualified narrator should get ready with microphones, caps, whistles, badges, and a pleasant mood in advance.

Mr. Ma taught us how to narrate the Roundhouse in different ways.

History part

Mr. Ma taught us how to narrate the CRH from the aspects of history, geography, technique and culture. Its existence is just a brilliant history of railroad.

CRH is also called "Hotel for Locomotive".

Function part

CRH is a place for locomotive maintenance. Alike the hotel, it is the place for locomotives to take a rest and also an easier way to make people understand.

The steam locomotive takes duty often whenever the railway activity is held.

Steam locomotive part

Mr. Ma is a railway fan. He knows and understands every detail of each steam locomotive including the year of manufacture, characteristics, etc. We finally understanded DT668 has the most powerful energy and CK101 model is 95 years old. His interpretation was truly amazing.

CRH is the largest maintenance place for R20.

Locomotive maintenance part

Currently CRH maintains the diesel and electric locomotive, R20 and S300, electric locomotive, E100 and E300, and 88 tons diesel motive crane. Roundhouse is located at the intersection of mountain and coast railway line, and carries the important mission of maintenance.

Mr. Ma answered our questions patiently.

A quiz on being a narrator

To be a narrator, you must know the topic well. Therefore, Mr. Ma drew some questions and prepared small gifts to give us a quiz. Luckily, we all got prepared in advance and answered eagerly.

Thanks for Mr. Ma's instruction. It will be Cool-Bow’s turn to take charge of narration next time.

Our team invited Mr. Chung-Hong Ma to help us how to give a narration. First, he introduced many video clips of locomotives. Then he introduced what accessories the narrator should have. In the end, Mr. Ma proposed some questions to us to figure out the answers. The training course today made me learn how to give a pleasing narration.

Mr. Ma came to our school to teach us how to be a narrator. He said abundant knowledge, microphones and pleasant mood are in need of. With a pleasant mood, narrator can make listeners happy. The key points of CRH narration are railway development history, characteristics, culture, features and locomotives housed in the Roundhouse. At last, Mr. Ma shared more information about locomotives and hoped we can do well in narration mission in the future.

Today Mr. Ma came to instructed us how to be a narrator. At the beginning, Mr. Ma talked about the outfit a narrator should have, such as the microphone, whistle, and most important of all, the pleasant mood. Then Mr. Ma explained the history, development of the Roundhouse and locomotives types and some locomotives he had fixed before, and so on. He is a well-known person.

Being lectured by Mr. Ma, we all concentrated on the lesson. First of all, we saw some words "To do a better job, you must broaden your knowledge and sharpen your skills." While I was just curious about the words, Mr. Ma told us that would be a part of a narrator! Then we came to the topic, he talked about the origins and history of the Roundhouse. I learned very much and understood the old partner, CRH , and the history of Changhua County as well.
