Project Information / Project Summary of Research Program / Project Elements of Research Program / Project Contribution of Research Program
1. 1.Please explain how this program meets with the goal and subject of the website.
The National Dr. Sun Yatsen Memorial Hall is located on Ren Ai Road in Taipei City, Taiwan. It is a landmark in Taipei for tourists so crowed with tourist buses all the time. In this program, we studied the whole memorial hall through the eyes of junior high school students. We wanted to find out more delicate sites there and introduce all of the resources it has to tourists.

2. 2.Please explain how this program links with the grade 1-9 curriculums and the school-based curriculum.

(1) Integrated curriculum:Our students visited every site of the memorial hall, they shared their findings and tried to build a website with the information they learned there. Their research about this memorial hall and the website is done with their experiences, thoughts and learning activities.
(2) Literary ability:The students learned how to prepare the materials of interview and how to record what they studied, so their writing skills were improved. After they asked the staff at the memorial hall many questions, their skill of speech became better, too.
(3) Arts and humanities:There are many sculptures and artistic works in each floor of the memorial hall. Our team members learned how artists express their thinking and ideas with different materials and forms. When visitors look at the artistic works, they start to have a better sense of beauty and understand how to cherish things.
(4) Career development education:The students had a chance to know how our ancestors worked hard for success. When they were working on the website, they had the same attitude. This is a very important learning experience for their career in the future.
(5) Information technology education:They used software, like Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Word, Excel and Illustrator to prepare this website. Their abilities of processing information are improved. Our students know they should always mention the source of information about Dr. Sun Yatsen on the website because they get it from the staff of the memorial hall. They showed their respect for intellectual property right and understanding about information this way.
(6) School-based curriculum:This memorial hall is so close to the families of our students, so it is a familiar place to the people in this community. This time, we made it a learning material at our school. We tried to add more to their study besides the textbooks and hoped to increase their abilities. For example, students learned how to use information, obtain knowledge, form a team, appreciate people for their help and become more patient, confident and active.

3. What information and techniques are used to accomplish this program?
We used Photoshop to edit the pictures we took at the memorial hall. We put our study records and contents on the website with Dreamweaver and Illustrator. Notebook PCs, digital cameras, scanners and internet are our tools to record all the pictures and contents on the website.

4. Our respect for intellectual property right and source of information
The historical records about Dr. Sun Yatsen are provided by the memorial hall. We showed the source of information with our respect for the intellectual property right. Cameras were not allowed in some exhibitions, so we used pens to record what we were impressed and interested.

5. Findings, learning and surprise

(1) We put together what we learn at school with the information from the memorial hall. We tried to make everybody know more about each place in this memorial hall with some interesting games. We added more fun to this visit this way. Also, when our students worked on the website, they built it through the eyes of junior high school students, so it is really different from the official one. Visitors can find more fun in this memorial hall and be interested to know more.
(2) What techniques do we learn?

A Knowledge: We know more about this memorial hall, such as some interesting places, artistic works, humane thinking, scenery, historical records of Dr. Sun Yatsen and history of the Republic of China in the past 100 years.
B Attitude: Our team learned how to work together and respect teacher’s instructions.
C Techniques: Students challenged themselves by learning how to ask questions, interview people, write research logs and design a website.
(3) What kind of teamwork do students perform?

A Correct use of information: Students studied their living environments in teams and groups. They completed a website about the memorial hall with various information and techniques they learned.
B International knowledge: When students interviewed the visitors from abroad, they knew English is important and the exchange of information with visitors can improve their knowledge.
C School-based curriculum for the purpose of native education: We appreciate the staff of the memorial hall for their assistance to us. We also want to thank the school head, teachers, students and their parents for their supports. Especially, we appreciate the visitors who helped us complete our questionnaire.
D Care for local environment: Junior high school students do not have many chances to prepare a website. This time, we focused on the National Dr. Sun Yatsen Memorial Hall on the Ren Ai Road in this research program. We were lucky and glad to do it because it could only happen once in our junior high school life. Some students live near the memorial hall, but they have never had a chance to study and learn about this memorial hall this way. Our activity helps students understand more about their community and the local environment.

6. All students in this program are the ambassadors from their communities. They need to introduce their hometown to the visitors from the whole world. Please explain how they do this job with internet or personal activities. The students made a website about the memorial hall from the viewpoint of junior high school students. They played with games to know better about every place in the memorial hall, so more people start to know there is a great memorial hall on the Ren Ai road. All students in this program become ambassadors to introduce this memorial hall to all people in Taiwan and abroad.
