- The Task Force >
- Hardworking Teachers★Lee Meng-Jou
For the past twenty years of teaching, I have been thinking, “What sort of abilities should I teach so that my students can cope with the future?” I found some answers in a book called “What Children Need For the Future.” The book mentions eight key skills, namely, coping skills, communication skills, media making, creativity, teamwork, handling confrontation, organizing, and stress endurance., However, these eight different skills are not integrated in the current school curriculum. We would like to cultivate our students with these eight future skills through our cyberfair project.

We formed the Exclamation Task Force with nine wonderful students. During the process, we learned and grew together which had enriched my teaching life.

Life can be exuberant if a person could constantly learn and experience. I was glad to cooperate with two senior teachers and nine students. I have gained valuable experiences when learning leadership and communication skills from two senior teachers, not to mention the enthusiastic participation of nine fantastic kids. Moreover, the parents had provided us full support. We experienced hard work and happiness along the way. Yet, the outcome is worthwhile.
★Huang Pei Hsuan
Experience is the best teacher. In the Exclamation task force, we teachers are merely facilitators and partners that foster students to understand the works of charity, sympathize with disadvantaged people and learn about our aboriginal culture. We are so proud of our youngsters that we saw them working cooperatively, solving problems independently and completing tasks efficiently. We couldn’t have made it with standard textbooks and classes. - Awesome Students★Yeh Yang

Four months had given me lots of exclamation marks.
First exclamation mark: The research project was really fun! We went through the process of searching for topics, making interviews promoting Shoebox Project, and writing our reports. Overall, we cooperated closely and completed the tasks.
Second exclamation mark: We met several unexpected circumstances but everything turn out fine in the end. For example, we had made appointments in advance to interview Mr. Chuang’s dance troupe during the TECO award. But we were not able to meet him. However, we were able to interview other aboriginal groups. We reframed our interview questions immediately.
Third exclamation mark: Originally, we read about the aborigines in the textbooks. Now, we have the opportunity to meet them in person, understand their thoughts through interviews and take actions in showing care for them.
Fourth exclamation mark: We learn that there are non-profit organizations like TECO Foundation who would raise funds to support aboriginal groups.
