        Natural and curative materials can be called "Chinese herbal medicine" in broad sense.There are about 8,000 kinds of Chinese herbal medicine, and about 2,000 to 3,000 kinds of Chinese medicine is used commonly.

Naming

       The naming of Chinese herbal medicine can be broadly divided following three different types:

◆Naming by shape

        Take ginseng as an example, its root is a little bit like person's form, so have a "person" the word in his Chinese name. Take ginseng as an example, because his roots is similar the form of human, there is a "person" word in his Chinese name.

◆Naming by smell

        Take star anise as an example, it is named as anise because of his strong and charming smell.

◆Naming by effect

        Take fleece-flower root as an example, because it can let the hair black, the meaning of his Chinese name is black hair.

        There are different preparations of Chinese herbal medicine, such as soup, jelly, powder etc. Chinese herbal medicine according of different needs is processed to different preparations.

Notice

        Some Chinese herbal medicine has a slight toxicity, so it can’t take too much or just can take the Chinese herbal medicine according to the Chinese doctor's orders.

        In addition, Chinese herbal medicines need to keep on the refrigerator to avoid becoming moldy.
