2.What is our local community group

  • Shiang Yu Museum is located in Jiangjun District, Tainan city ,one of the six towns of salty zone. The salty zone culture became one of the most special lecture community groups ,after New Taiwan Lecture Movement grew up in Japan Dominating time. In some Tainan salty zones, cultivated a group of intellectuals who show extremely enthusiasm for lecture and this beautiful land. Their opuses present the atmosphere of salty village and the indignation to colonist. These really put great influence on Taiwan lecture history, as a result, it is known as “the hometown of poets.” Shiang Yu Museum reserves different kinds of cultural and historical poets, artists and writers in this area. We sincerely invite you to join us.

3.The summary of our research program

  • For some reasons, we found the Shiang Yu Museum , which aims to protect and remain the salty zone culture, and we realized how hard the founder ,Lin Jin-Hui ,devoted himself to Taiwan traditional culture. His hard working and dedications touch us; thus, we decided to follow his footprint to research and realize Taiwan lecture. Although we are all laymen and can just took a brief look at in the Shiang Yu Museum, we finally know that there are many great composers, who dedicated themselves to Taiwan lecture. As the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world so as the hand that holds the pen is the hand that improves the human’s civilization. They teach us that while we reach into future , we should also remember the past; furthermore, we make up our mind to use the power of Internet to let more people in the world know our lovingly hometown, Taiwan, and its attractive culture. 

4.Our studio environment and Internet equipment

  • Our main studio is in the computer classroom in our school. It supplies 100Mbps optical fiber cable and server, so we can produce our website easier and faster,while,at home,the students and teachers use 2M/256K Chunghwa telecom ADSL service to search for some material and do secretarial edit . On the other hand, all the members will assemble and work together once a week so that we can solve the problem and improve in time by teamwork. Two hands are better than one .Concluding everyone’s idea really makes the website more integrated and more splendid.

5.The difficulties and challenges we had faced and overcome 

answer

  • the skillful obstacles

  Owning to our lack of experience of designing the website,  we aren’t familiar with many skills. In the other words, we were just at the stage of learning.  In the part of art designing and software using, we face many difficulties and challenges. Thanks to the teachers and fellow students’help and guidance, we can fully utilize each of our talents, overcome the deficiencies in our computer skills, and finally finish every parts of the website in maximum efficiency.

  • the progress grasps

  We first worked on our own part that we had been assigned , and then integrated each member's work into the project., but the schedule was always delayed because of the challenges we met. Sometimes it caused the work not to go on. Thanks to other members’ timely help, we could make up with the lost time.

  • research time

  We worked together once a week after school in the computer classroom. Sometime someone would be absent because of examinations, sports meeting, club activities and so on. In order to finish our work, we should spend our leisure time completing our research at home. Otherwise, we would not be able to finish our work as a team. Thanks to the public equipment that our school offers, we could conclude each member’s opinion and materials easily.

  In order to collect more information and materials, and thoroughly understand the related culture and research, we decided to report Mr. Lin Jin Hui and visit Shiang Yu Museum. Due to our first time to drawing up interviews, we didn’t know how to ask and what to ask questions exactly.  Sometimes we were out of clue and so nervous that we couldn’t focus on the point. Though the teacher and Mr. Lin Jin Hui’abundance experience, we finally finish the interview . We all thank Mr. Lin Jin Hui’s kindness and patience.

6.reflection

  • We learned many skills and experience that we can’t get in class, such as, website design, typesetting, interview, conclude information, teamwork and so on. These experiences will be so important that they could influence our life. In fact, all part off work were the first time for us, and we all pay the extremely afford to do everything the best. In the process, we were under the spur and stress of difficulties and challenges. As a result, we learned the spirit of never giving up and be unbending even when we are afraid and weak.  This spirit really makes us overcome the challenges.  The teacher’s guidance and advice and interviewer’s patience and remaining really gave us a big help to finish this website. Whether win the prize or not, we all learned a lot.

1.How did our activities and research connect with our school’s teaching program?

  • As the technology improving day by day, many companies, institutions and school s use Internet to transmit information. To improve student’s competition in the rest of our life, we learn Dreamweaver CS4 to set up our own website, which recording our high school life and learning process to prepare for the recommendation and application. The program is an opportunity for use to learn website design, and connects with future career. In addition, we became more familiar with our hometown’s tradition culture from this program.  And we learn to realize the composer’s implied meaning of their creation more deeply from the composer and curator’s illustration. This experience let us become more sensible of lecture composition.

2.The technology we learn

  • There is a time limit to the technology we learn from daily school time.  After joining this team, we finally realize how hard it is to set up an ordinary website that we surf every day. From zero to a complete website, we have learned layout designing, website connection, art designing, typesetting, Flash animation. We are pleasant to get these useful technologies and they will become our ability forever.

3.The cooperation theory and method we have practiced and used

  • From first day, teacher had put emphases on cooperation again and again.  The first thing we did is to divide everyone’s job.  After distributing the job, we quickly realized what the teacher meant “ the importance of the division of labor.”  It also means “team work.”

4.The problem of educational institution that we found during the process

  • We found that Taiwan’s education institution focuses a lot on the knowledge of the textbook and examination. It causes that many students just remember not really realize the basic meaning and ideal.  We had never truly realized and investigated these composer’s  living background, life story and the value of their opus. We used to know one composer passive, so it was not easy to realize their conception. 
  • On the other hand, we found that the skills we learned are all not in textbooks or on any tests, but they are the own way that we can keep touch on the latest high-technology. The present education institution is too focus on the main subject in the textbook and examination that ignore this part of knowledge and continually cut out this subject proposal. Learning new thing is important, but some technique is also necessary. How to keep balance between learning knowledge and technique is an important problem we have to face.

5.Is the Internet learning more efficiently than traditional method?

answer

  • The technology pursues efficiency that meant to half the work with double results. As a result, it can be used to improve learning efficiency, particularly on looking up information. Although the Internet is really convenient to us, we must learn to distinguish between truth and fake. In this opening society, we can get and give the information easily.
  • Having your own opinion is a very important ability. We can’t always be the ignorant follower, instead, we must be more independent and critical when we are learning. On the other hand, we can’t forget the past as we getting into future. It is necessary to protect ordinary books because they are our culture fountainhead.

7.The students participating in the research project represent their local community ambassador, and bear the mission to introduce the audience in the world the characteristics of their native lands. Please explain what kind of methods you use to play “ambassador” role with the contact of online, individual or team?

  • After visiting Shiang Yu Museum, we collated and showed the information we collected and what we had learned on the website. We hope the whole world can view it and go a step further to understand this place by Internet dissemination strength. In addition, we  can offer the latest information to the audience, and looking forward to more friends who have the same zeal as us to participate in the cultural heritage.

8.What influence and impact your research project have on you? How did your research project change you place?

answer

  • It was our first time to attend such a long-term, complex-contented and various contest, so we have learned a lot from it. This was a very different experience, for everyone pulled together, racked brains to gauged and advanced toward the goal. The earnest and most active attitude often encouraged each other so that we can support one another and finish. When finishing, that mood couldn’t be described by words. The move made the pains during these month worth. This research project not only changed our skills, broadened our horizon, but most importantly it also changed the attitude we faced problem with, and more ways to deal with people. It made us closer to the world but not confined to the campus life. The sense of achievement of finishing this mission shaped us more active, positive to future challenges.
  • This move also has great relevance to the subject of our research. While collating and reading the relics Shiang Yu Museum enshrine, we have been touched gradually by the writers working hard for literary, ad ponder further what our aims are in such happy time. We don’t need to fight against the threats and oppression others gave for our thoughts and traditional culture, and don’t live in poverty-stricken living conditions;thus, what can we dedicate to this community? Because of this research, we began to image and plan our future life.
