Lahwy’s full name is Lahwy Icyeh. Lahwy means “virgin forest”. He was named “Lahwy” because he was born in a forest. He grew up in a tribe so that he had a strong feeling about that. When he grew up and studied in another place, he always came back to the tribe during school holidays.
Lahwy was the first postgraduate supported by Smangus. He is serving as Minister of Education and Culture who is responsible for schools and cultural activities. Our trip to Smangus was also arranged by him. His contribution to the development of tribal culture made him be the recipient of National Youth Award last year.
Lahwy is a good-looking and tall guy with a small mustache. He speaks clearly and is very kind to us. He explained the things about Smangus and answered our questions passionately.
Although the job is hard, he still likes his job very much. He thinks it’s worthwhile and meaningful. Lahwy has great passion for his tribe. He gave up his job in city and stayed in Smangus for the development of co-operation. We could feel that he cares about his clansman so much. He contributed to the birth of Smangus School, so that the children of Smangus do not have to go to Xing-Guang Elementary School that is very far away.
Lahwy wishes there would be more and more people to notice Smangus, the Holy Land of God. The Clansmen of Smangus could always say “No” to consortiums. Therefore, people of Smangus could guard this land and culture forever.
