Koraw Natural Ecological Park is just an ecological forest behind the area of the tribe. Smangus tribe did not do any special design. They just paved the trail and did some landscaping, so that visitors can easily walk around Smangus.
The trail to Koraw Natural Ecological Park
Koraw in the Atayal language means "fertile land let the tribe farm here, to return to the tribe when sunset, and the body is always with the dark mud. " which means the good land here and also a symbol of harvest year after year.
The park is not big, mostly consisting of Lauraceae, Fagaceae. It has not-so-dense forest, less steep mountain trails, occasional small flat, and there are ropes that visitors could experience being a Tarzan.
If you come during the night time, you can see that the park is full of bright eyes of nocturnal animals.
Walking in the Koraw Nature Ecological Park, you can feel winds and voice of animals and birds, as if you were in a fairyland. Visitors would be impressed by the rich natural environment and the Smangus people’s intention for ecological protection.
