The bride and groom would be told about the arranged marriage by their parents until three weeks before the wedding ceremony. Until now, although the Smangus has the freedom to choose their spouse, if the person’s tribal race is too close, parents will still come forward to advise parting.

It is impressive that the Smangus had knowledge of eugenics so early and know the truth of close relatives should not get married.
