It was one day in 1976. My boy who was only one year old got fever, and was very sick. Because my husband was not at home then, I was worried and had to take him to hospital by myself.

However, I didn’t know what to do when I got to the hospital. I couldn’t read, and I didn’t know where to ask for help. I was holding my baby, humbly asked the nurse behind the desk what to do. She responded me in a cold voice “Read it yourself. There is a sign over there.” Yes, I saw the sign, and I saw the words. But I couldn’t read. I was almost to cry but I tried not. ”I am sorry, I can’t read. Can you help me with the form, my baby is very sick.” This was the only thing I could do then. I was very sad and ashamed. After this unhappy experience, I deeply realized that It was very inconvenient to be unable to read, and it was the time for me to make difference. With the support from my husband, I went to night school.

I used to lose the chance to learn when I was young. And I deeply suffered from it. Being unable to read is like to be a blind in life. I feel grateful to have the chance of learning again. I want to say thank you to the teachers in night school. Thanks for teaching me how to read and enrich my life with knowledge. I will study harder, and to feel not ashamed again. I know I will be a happy citizen in the f future.
