It’s divided into 5 stages for the evolution of FASDT, initial is the period happened in Kaohsiung CAOYA aborigine hall then step out of Kaohsiung, the third stage was in Yu-Lung industrial park of Shin Dian city at Taipei, the forth in the after moved into and own the rehearsal room in a building at Shin Dian city and latterly established a foundation themselves. During above time, they firmed the particular performance style gradually, detail as below:

The Primary Stage

(1990.12~1991.5)

Dec 1st 1991 a group of aboriginal youth teamed up in CAOYA aborigine hall and named themselves as “Aboriginal Dancer’s Troupe”, since the group is assembled by the excellent dancer selected from all tribes, each of them was also called “Aboriginal Dancer” (This is the current mandarin name of FASDT).

Registered as a performance team in KAOHSIUNG County.

Apr 4th 1991 “Aboriginal Dancer’s Troupe” formally performed in KAOHSIUNG City.

The Secondary Stage

(1991.5~1992.3)

May 1991, raised by the encouragement and support of the sponsors, FASDT took their first step for touring performance with the subject of “The Legend of the Mountain and the Sea”, that was a main frame of all the new programs afterward.

Started the field study, to collect the different cultural elements from all tribes inspired the transformation of the dancers; this was a very turning-point for the troupe.

The Third stage

(1992.3~1997.8)

Struggling to earn a living, this stage was very productive with abundant creations meanwhile upgraded the only purpose of   traditional delivery into a theatrical performance.

The performance of “Memorable New Year Ceremony” won a highly praise moreover the 15th Wu San-lien Literature and Arts Award in Nov 1992. As well, FASDT was selected by the Council for Cultural Affairs as an “Outstanding International Performing Group” within this hard but brilliant stage.

Aug 1993, first touring performance abroad and either won a great response.

The Forth Stage

(1997.8~2001.8)

For the mission of delivering aboriginal culture as well as to make the group grounding stronger, the dancers consistently did the field study to train themselves.

Dec 26th 1997, therefore a new production about Amis tribe’s TAPALONG village music “Holding INA’s hand” was performed in Taipei Novel Hall, again, with a marvelous response. The productions afterward such as “Ritual Ceremonies” or “Who’s shooting on the mountain?”etc. all impressed Taiwan’s audience with the magnificence of aboriginal culture.

The Current time

(2001.8~now)

The “Culture and Arts Foundation of Formosa Aboriginal Song and Dance Troupe” has been established, while the team achieves 10years career, for long term development and to enhance the possibility of the maintenance for aboriginal culture. In order to accord with aboriginal culture more tightly, FADST decided to return to the mother land and moved in the current address located at SHOUFONG township, HUALIEN county in Jan 2007.
