Bitter Past

July 1992
Mr. Yang started to pay attention to female college students and perform robbery, stealing, forcible rape, and obscenity around Chinese Culture University, National Yang Ming University, Tamkang University, nearby district Shilin and Beitou.  He committed crimes mainly around Chinese Culture University around Huagang area.  Therefore, he gained his notorious name as “Huagang Womanizer”. 

November 14th, 1995
After raping a woman, Mr. Yang left his pager at the scene and was arrested by the police.  He only admitted that he had committed five robbery cases, and he was bailed. 

November 24th, 1995
Shilin Police District investigated that Mr. Yang was Huagang Womanizer and arrested him. 

1996
Shilin District Court confirmed that Mr. Yang had committed 34 cases, 25 were sexual abuse.  He was sentenced 16-year custody. 

November 19th, 1996
Mr. Yang started his custody in Taipei Prison, and he should serve his sentence until September 2010.

July 2001
Mr. Yang got 396.05 points on college entrance exam and got the admission of Department of Sociology at National Taiwan University.

September 2003
Mr. Yang applied for parole for the first time but was rejected.  Failures in applying for parole for four times made Mr. Yang lose his offer of the school in 2004. 

September 14th, 2007
On the seventh time of applying parole, Mr. Yang finally got approved. 

Guidance and Assistance

Mr. Yang, while in custody, would have Minister Huang come to him and talk about his life, such as the state of his life, his relationship with his family and what Mr. Yang thinks about.
After Mr. Yang was taken into custody, his perception of sexual relationship changed. He has improved to where he no longer thinks bad thoughts or does bad things. His family wants him to quickly get married, but he still wants to follow God's will in making the decision of when to marry. He thinks that all things need to be done in a step-by-step process. So what does he do? He will pray every day and read the Bible. Sometimes he does not have the time to read, but most of the time he will personally find time to read, to pray. His Life is very regular.
During the time that Mr. Yang was in custody, Minister Huang would ask him some questions. He might ask. Where are you reading in the Bible? Recently, what have you thought about?
What do we learn from this?
Everyone has things in their life that made them regret the things that they have done wrong. Before Mr. Yang, would force women do sexual inappropriate things, but he was willing to change so we accepted him. There were still people that did not believe he could do it, but to us that did not matter.

I think that everyone should be forgiving because everyone has committed his or her own mistakes. People who are in prison, those who have been sentenced to jail, all have different attitudes. There are three types. The first one is because of their stress they committed sexual crime. The second is because of power, and finally the third reason is abnormal emotional problems. Mr. Yang did not commit the sexual crimes because of the third reason. He was willing to change. He also wanted to help other people. Because of this he wanted to go to National Taiwan University in Taipei to study a degree in work that he could use to help other people. But because of his past they would not accept him. They could only see his past mistake to judge him. We should not judge other people though because of past mistakes or what others think of them. So if we really want to help other people we should understand them and forgive their previous mistakes.
