On January 15, 2009, we visited BCC Formosa
Network. Director Chen explained the history as well as growth of BCC. As it is
an important part of history, it has been evolving and innovating. Its
listeners come from all over the world. The only thing that didn’t change was
its promise for news. People are so used to watching TV and radio broadcast
doesn’t seem all that important. But after 921 Earthquake, people in the disaster
area could not communicate with the outside. Radio broadcast became quite
powerful and helped rescuers and materials to reach the disaster area right
away.
After
visiting Director Chen, we learned that in any industry, it was important to
start from the bottom, establish a firm foundation in order to gain solid
ground. Ms. Long enunciated very well and she knew how to move the audience,
which kept the excitement up. We learned about AM, FM and SW as well as gained a basic understanding for broadcasting.
